When I logged on here and saw there were ZERO posts about today's boxscores, I figured we had had a crappy day. I was right. :(

On a side note, I think that the most surprising player to see struggle this year for me is Brooks Raley. I had hopes that he would already be in AA by now personally and instead if I was making a top 30 prospect list for the Cubs, I'm not even positive he'd be on it.

He'd be on mine. Actually, he is on (23 right now for me, list doesn't have Castro/Cashner on it). Thing is, I didn't have huge expectations for this year. Sometimes, guys take off when they can finally concentrate on one aspect of the game, but other times, it takes guys some time. Now, am I disappointed at the ridiculous yoyo-ing of good game/bad game (and these days, it feels more like 1 good for every 2 bad). Sure. But there's enough for me to keep him on for now.

Pretty much an awful day for all prospects worth tracking with the exceptions of DJ LaMahieu and Aaron Schafer. At least Grabow mowed down some minor leaguers for another inning, so we'll probably be seeing him again soon. Joy.

I'm quickly souring on LeMahieu

I'm picturing LeMahieu as a utility guy at this point. I'm still thinking he'll eventually hit for some sort of power, albeit alot more doubles than homers.

I think the Cubs wasted a good deal of money on Brooks Raley as a pitcher. In 54 innings, he has given up 76 hits and walked 26 to go with a 5.93 ERA. Struggling with control is one thing, but a pitcher who gets tattoed every other start in A ball doesn't have a future in the big leagues. Raley's draft report stated he didn't have an out pitch and his stuff was average to slightly above on a good day (BA)

Scouts respect his ability to compete and to command all of his offering, but he doesn't have a true out pitch, which will leave him with little margin for error in pro ball.
.

Pitchability and athleticism was supposed to be his M.O. I suspect that within a year, he will switch to the outfield, although that same draft report said his best position is pitcher.
