even assuming we dont [expletive] up our draft picks, by the time they're up, we'll have a whole slew of new awful contracts to keep them on the bench

Maybe not if we get rid of Hendry and actually make a good hire.

Pick, shmick; it's easy for a good baseball team to still have excellent draft picks. Unless there's another Strasburg or Bryce Harper out there, the draft offers little silver lining.

I disagree.

I'm curious as to why given how drastically different the baseball draft is from football or basketball in terms of how "necessary" it is to have early picks to typically walk away with the best or most useful players. Baseball teams can easily end up with good or even great players very deep into the draft.

That's even less likely then the Cubs drafting well.

Well it seems to me in the past 5 to 6 years with more extensive scouting, most of the top players are more likely to hit than they were in the past. I'm trying to think of the last huge name to flop. I would have to guess Alex Gordon, but even then, that's more because Dayton Moore refuses to give him 500 at bats.

Well, I'm not talking about flops; my point is that the draft is typically relatively deep in terms of being able to get useful or better players. A good baseball organization can field both a good team and draft well. It's not as necessary as it is in some of the other sports to be a bad team to have good drafts.

So Lou calls for Z to sac bunt.

Egnius.

Yep and if the 18m man could have executed it we would at least have a 1-1 tie...................

it would be really cool if lou, after 4 years or whatever, knew the strengths and weaknesses of players that have been on his team the entire time he's been here

I know.............. I don't disagree but HOLY CATS Z should be able to lay down a decent bunt when asked to............

Nah, I still think we win this one, though it might be ugly.

No chance - Paulino is 0-7. He will hold us to 5 hits over 8 innings.....................

I can't watch any more of this crap but when we go down 1,2,3 in the next inning my prediction will come true.................

I'm bored with this team, I don't even care anymore. Not mad, bored. Nothing about this joke of a team makes me want to spend any money on them. Bunch of ruddlerless leaderless losers.

I'm sick of these idiotic lineups, I'm sick of ramirez hitting fourth and theriot anywhere but eighth. I'm sick of our ass awful bullpen. I'm sick of Piniella. I hate this stupid team. There's no leaders and no one cares, why should they? WE ARE A JOKE. $144M.

Awful.

They're worse than awful, they're boredom-inspiring. Just wait until this Hawks series ends, one way or another. Then we'll be right back to having no option b for sports, and the howry will really hit the fan (hopefully).

I seriously never want to see lou piniella again for whatever that's worth. Old senile idiot.
