Was watching 30 for 30 last night (I know, I know), and on this date in 1994 Ken Griffey Jr. hit his 30th home run of the season. For comparison, Miguel Cabrera leads the AL with 19 HR, and Corey Hart (!) leads the NL with 17.

That record was as good as broken if not for the strike.

I don't get it...are we not supposed to be watching those? They're typically one of the few watchable programs ESPN has these days.

watching anything but an actual sporting event on espn certainly carries a stigma these days. 30 for 30 seems to be fine, but i can understand being hesitant to admit watching it.

He was only on pace for 58 that year. Matt Williams was actually ahead of Griffey with 43 HRs and was on pace for 61.
