I think this is the first year in a decade (and what a great decade it was) that I won't be attending a Cubs game in Philly. Two trends I've seen there has been really freaking hot weather at the games and going from Cubs winning most matchups to Philly dominating nearly every game I've seen.

You forgot:

3) Phillies fans intentionally projectile vomiting on people

4) Phillies fans running on the field and getting tased

Seriously? Baker in RF? Freaking Lou. :banghead:

I really dont have a problem with it. Baker in his career has hit left handers really well, and with the middle infield situation right now, hes probably not going to get any starts at 2nd anytime soon. Its a way to get him in the lineup, and get him in vs a LH pitcher. Also Philly is a small park so its less ground for him to cover.

Nady. He is a proven quality at-bat when healthy. Need to get him more consistent appearances. I'm not dumbfounded by Baker in right, but makes he scratch my head a bit

OK, what? At first I figured he wanted Baker in there for his numbers against the Phillies:

.462 .483 .538 1.021 in 29 PA.

But his numbers actually at Citizens Bank are horrible:

.111 .100 .222 .322 in 10 PA.

Whereas at CB Nady has hit:

.280 .280 .480 .760 in 25 PA.

And he also has good career numbers against lefties.

I don't get it.

The talk was Nady at full strength by June 1. I really don't have a problem with this (and don't really care what his 10 career PA in cbp say). Nady has been terrible vs lefties this year and could very easily not be ready to be out there.

This is why I didn't want to sign Nady. If we're reluctant to give him starts because of his tender noodle arm then why sign him to begin with? Jermaine Dye can at least throw a baseball.

More of a potential upside with Nady. With Dye you know he can't hit righties at all at this point. Nady potentially gives you someone off the bench who isn't as limited offensively.

They said all along they were going to be cautious early. It's mid-May and the weather has sucked in the Philly/NY corridor for the past day.

I suppose. But if we were looking to acquire a right-handed PH (which is all Nady is at this point) then we should have just brought someone up off the farm.

At this point, but by the summer he's supposed to be a good option to platoon with Kosuke.

The key is "at this point." There's still a very good chance that Nady ends up being a very valuable asset off the bench in the near future.

Point, and I guess its really only an issue against LHP. Colvin has pretty much solidified himself as the 4th OFer.

Not necessarily. A healthy Nady is usually going to be a better option.
