Anybody given up yet? Besides Al, I mean. ;)

Alamo Stealth (4-2) at Saber Metrics (5-1)

Harrys Budcrew (5-1) at Bazingas (1-5)

Northside Baseball (3-3) at The Eyes of Texas (2-4)

Kid Rodelo (4-2) at NC Cubs (1-5)

Quakers (0-6) at Sock it Thome (1-5)

Tootielicious (2-4) at Galesburg Hand Sanitizers (5-1)

Mighty D-Block (3-3) at Ron Washington's Dealers (3-3)

Lynx (5-1) at Fuzzy Logistics (4-2)

Nobody undefeated anymore after last week's Lynx loss.

Top 4 in the West matched up for the third consecutive week (all are 1-1 through 2 weeks), so we'll call those the matchups of the week again.

While it may jeopardize my number one draft pick, I would really like to win at least one game this season :beg:

I still think that this team is much better than its record would indicate. But when every single start has hit the skids...ouch

Did you see what I did this morning? I've given up.

You should give up when you can't even beat a previously winless team with a manager that mismanages his team into only 6 starts. :P

Just put Ethier on the DL if he's going to be out that long. Ugh.

I'm fairly sure there isn't a draft in June. Last year there was supposed to be a prospect draft in August (after the signing deadline for MLB draftees) but it wasn't held; there wasn't a prospect draft until before the regular draft this spring. I haven't seen anything definitive for this year, but whether there's another prospect draft this year or not until next year I think the order is the same as the regular draft (based on the Fecal League standings at the July 31 trading deadline).

It's something to explore. I think it worked out pretty well to do the prospect draft before the regular draft this year. Anyone prefer something different from that?

We can use the worst records at the trade deadline like we do for the regular draft, or we could take the worst records at the end of the season as a bit of a change up from the regular draft.

Discuss......

I could swear that Juan was talking about a draft right after the MLB free agent draft in June. I think he mentioned this when we had the prospect draft this winter.

If he was talking about a summer draft I'd think he was talking about having it after the signing deadline (which is now in August) rather than right after the draft in June. Personally I don't think it would make sense to have one before the signing deadline because you wouldn't know who signs and who doesn't.

If we do have a draft during the season it would pretty much have to be based on standings during the season (whether it's July 31 or a different date) since the year-end standings wouldn't be known by then (unless it's based on the previous year-end, which I wouldn't object to). I like the idea of an August prospect draft, since the nature of that draft is such that it really needs to be an extended draft on NSBB since many of the players would not yet be in the database, That's especially true if we consider sticking with an extended regular draft again. I thought having two back-to-back extended drafts as we did this year made it seem like it was dragging along too long.

Is it possible for September call ups to lose their minor league eligibility?
Posted
Assuming the September call-up is that player's only major league action that year I'd say it's theoretically possible but less likely than the Cubs winning the World Series this year. There's no way that a hitter would exceed 250 plate appearances or a pitcher make 10 starts in one month. It would be possible, but I believe highly unlikely, for a relief pitcher to make 25 appearances in one month.

I tried to do that last year with Norris to get my 7th start, and the ruling was that it was invalid (it didn't really matter anyway, since he put up a negative start). I think it would be OK if it were to replace an injured player.

A few things to consider.

A) Vacations. Attempting to get everyone together in the summer months to conduct a prospect draft could be very difficult to schedule. I'll be gone for 2 weeks in August as usual.

B) Drafting to stay legal, and then having 3 or 4 guys who lose their eligibility in the final month of the season, thereby costing you roster spots that you might not have to lose if the draft was conducted during the offseason.

An example for me was Neftali Feliz and Chris Tillman just barely losing their eligibility last year. At the time of the draft, I wouldn't have known they would lose their eligibility.

If everyone is fine with that going in, we can do it. I personally don't like it, especially with trying to schedule something during summer. I liked the way we did it last year, with maybe some sort of adjustment on time length to finish the draft quicker.

I'd prefer to wait until the offseason again, personally.

I forgot to add C.

C) Most of those guys probably won't even be in the database that soon. While CBS has been getting better about adding them, and it's not really that big of a pain in the butt to manually add one here and there, but adding almost all of them that way probably would be a huge pain in the butt.

Yeah, I had no problem with doing it in the offseason as we did this year. Really, the only risk you run is that a draftee somehow makes the big league club within the same year, leaving his acquisition up to whoever grabs him in FA the fastest. But if a guy like Strasburg didn't even see a cup of coffee his first year, I'd say the chances of that are really slim.

Not true, Kevin. June draftees would be ineligible to be picked up until after the amateur draft in our league takes place. Any guy who got promoted during that season would still be a draft candidate once our draft starts.

I'm fairly sure that last year Juan said that a draft pick that actually got called up to the majors that same year could be picked up before the next prospect draft, but it would have to be through waivers to avoid the fastest fingers issue.

I don't recall this at all. I could have sworn that all June draftees were off limits until we ran the amateur draft.

I'd rather wait until later too... Can someone remind me at what point the draft order gets set though? All-Star break?
