Milwaukee Brewers

Brewers pitching has kind of an ominous streak going this year: They have yet to give up fewer than 4 runs in any game to this point. To this point, they've given up 5, 4, 5, 5, 7, 7, 9, 7, 6, and now 5 again tonight through 8.

Doug Davis, Dave Bush, Randy Wolf, Jeff Suppan. I'm not thrilled about the Cubs rotation, but I think we are way better off than the Brewers. I do like Gallardo.

Their bullpen has been pretty bad, Hawkins blew another lead tonight and Hoffman has been iffy. Their rotation is extremely mediocre outside of Gallardo but he has had issues walking guys this year and hasn't been the "ace/stopper" they were depending on him to be. Their offense is good enough to carry them, but it isn't good enough (not many in MLB are) to support a staff that is continually giving up 5+ runs a night. The are a 73-83 win team as they stand right now IMO, so basically .500 depending on a little luck or lack there of.

Both Davis and Wolf have been a little better than league average over their careers. Since 4/5ths of Milwaukee's 2009 rotation was well below average, they have upgraded fairly significantly. Over the long haul, that should become apparent. But I still don't see them winning more than about 80 games.

While Davis has been a little above average, I'm really not exactly sure how. He's got a mediocre K and HR rate, he walks a lot of guys, he's not particularly good at preventing hits or XBH, and none of his pitches give him a ton of value either. I guess he gets a good amount of ground balls, but given his past and his age, league average is probably closer to his ceiling than his expectation

So far i am not happy with this team, Greg Zaun, Carlos Gomez and Doug Davis are just bad. I can't belive we actally have a better record than this time last year, and we have had a much tougher games so far this year than last year and thats with Prince not doing a thing. I don't think the pitching staff is this bad. Overall i do think the pitching staff is better than last year, as of now they are worse but time will only tell, the offense is worse with with guys like gomez and zaun. I was actally hoping we would blow yestersday game and then it would be one day closer to getting rid of Macha, I can not stand him.
