throwing up an epic stink bomb in game 7 of the finals wins you the finals mvp

Van Gundy (think it was him) just said that tonight allows Kobe to jump over Magic for greatest Laker ever. What the hell did Kobe do tonight that convinced you he was better than Magic?

Nothing. Congrats to Kobe for doing something MJ never did.........and that's winning a Game 7 of the NBA Finals. But on the other hand, MJ never missed on an opportunity to close out an opponent.

The Lakers didn't miss a chance to close out the Celtics.

Unless you're taking about Kobe missing 425 shots tonight.

This has to be the worst ever performance in a clinching game by a Finals MVP, right?

Wow, I just looked up Game 6 of the 1992 Finals - widely known as a game MJ struggled and the Bulls' reserves did some heavy lifting - to see if it was worse, and I find 13/24 FG, 2/3 3FG, 5/5 FT, 33 pts, 4 reb, 4 ast, 4 stl.

So yeah, it was.

I know Magic's a part-owner of the Lakers, but why the hell does ESPN have him as a studio analyst when his team's in the Finals? Typical ESPN.

That's quite a bit less than typical ESPN

Also, I credit myself and Great White for the turnaround. I drank a couple during Game 6 and they rolled and I opened my first one up tonight when the Lakers were down 6 or 8 midway through the third quarter.

What is it about your team winning a championship that screams lets flip cars over, beat people up and throw [expletive] at cops? Every year. Don't ruin my city, jack asses.

And now a car is on fire. And it just blew up. How would you like to be the guy watching local news and seeing your white car blow up?

Apparently, in 2000, the Lakers couldn't leave Staples for hours after they won the championship because it was unsafe.

I'm not comparing MJ to the Lakers, but MJ to Kobe who fancy himself as a MJ clone.

And the after series party is the reason why the Lakers should be allow to win a championship. There fans don't know how to behave themselves.

Where's the damage going down tonight Raisin?

Same place as always, immediately south and east of Staples on the southern edge of Downtown. For the second straight year, they also hit East LA (5 miles east of Staples).

I guess the difference between doing that now and doing that in the year 2000 is that no one would've noticed any difference in 2000.

Yeah, the area around Staples is so much nicer now. But the cops successfully pushed the rioters into the nearby seedy neighborhoods.

Man how did the Celtics lose that game?

By scoring 3 points in a span of more than 6 minutes to end the 3rd and begin the 4th. In fact the Lakers had more offensive boards (5) than the Celtics had points (3) in that stretch so the Celts only had about 12 possessions.

Lack of rebounding

No leader

Allen (3-14) and Pierce (5-15) combining to shoot 8-29 didn't help either.

Am I the only one who gets tired of the discussions about what someone's legacy is while they still have a few years left? Of course everywhere you turn you hear the "what is Kobe's legacy?" talks but last night at halftime after discussing that, Stu had to ask "what is the legacy of the big 3 if they win?" Can we just get to the end of the game if not closer to the end of their careers before we have these grand "legacy" arguments?

The better question is is how many runs does Kobe have left in him? I'll be annoyed if he gets to 6 but from where things look they've gotta be the favorites going into next year.
