Wow...is MJ gonna come out and start yapping next? Everybody seems to want to be the "best" champion in town...

"I don't think it ranks up there with our championship. People had a swagger when they talked about our championship because they know we would go out and kick ass and take names and come home with a victory. There was no doubt, there was no worry. It was all about taking care of business. If (the Blackhawks) play like that over the next three or four years....then you can start talking about other stuff."

3-4 years? Dick Dent, do you realize your team completely crapped the bed on what should have been a dynasty?

The only thing I could think he meant there was that they had a "smashmouth" style for a 3-4 year span? But that's really trying to look for some accuracy where there isn't any.

Well, I guess they are at least half way there in Dent's little world then since they were pretty good last year too and made it to the WC finals.

But they weren't swaggering.

When the Bears lost 23-0 in the conference finals the year before going all the way, they were swaggering.

This is just about a guy whose meal ticket remains being one of the guys from the most famous Chicago sports championship. If too many people like the Blackhawks, he won't be able to pull down $5000 for autograph sessions.

Only the Chicago area gets the Blackhawks cover. Everyone else gets Strasburg. Sorry...as awesome as the kid may be, a Championship team should always get the cover.

There hasn't been a "the" cover for Sports Illustrated for awhile now. They zone everything anytime there's multiple stuff going on.

I thought they only zoned things like March Madness covers, and season previews. They have plenty of singular covers.

I'm not at all surprised that the Blackhawks aren't the primary cover. They won it last Wednesday night. I get my SI (why I still do I don't know) on Wednesday and figured a week later it would be old news.

Eh...I'm not all bent out of shape about it or anything. But the magazine comes out 52 issues a year...I figured they could manage to have 4 covers reserved for the 4 major sport champs.

I still have a bunch of SI's from the MJ Bulls years.

Glancing back at 2010, they zoned in a Rondo cover last month while most people got the World Cup preview. They did one in the middle of May where some people got Shaq and some people got Braden's perfect game, not sure which was the primary one or if it was a West Coast/East Coast thing. They did the six different March Madness covers, like you said. In February, Canada got Sidney Crosby and the U.S. got Lindsey Vonn. Going back to November, they did a split between Iowa football and the World Series, and they did all different ones for the college basketball preview issue.

They don't zone it every week, but they do it often enough that it dilutes the idea of "the" cover and I suspect as time goes on they'll be doing it more and more.

Well that sucks. My wife got a subscription to SI for like $2 through her work, so we get it. But I rarely read it. Would have been nice to get the one with the Cup on the cover. I doubt STL is included in the zone getting it though.

I think the idea is that hockey on the cover probably sells less issues around the rest of the USA, even if it's a big market team on the cover celebrating a title.

Like for instance if Ottawa ever won a Stanley Cup, it would be suicide for SI to give them a national cover in both the USA and Canada.

Oh brother. People are doing "We had the better championship" talk? First Mushmouth the Guillen, and now Dent. Why can't these asshats simply be happy for the city of Chicago getting another championship instead of puffing up their chest. Maybe Bobby Sippio might want to speak up and say his teams championships for the Chicago Rush (2006) and Chicago Slaughter (2009) were much better then the Hawks. Maybe former Chicago Fire stars Zach Thornton and Chris Armas have something to say about which Chicago championship is best.

It's not often a 117-year-old icon hits the club scene -- but last night Lord Stanley's Cup cruised over to Hollywood for a night of mayhem with Chicago Blackhawks star Patrick Kane.

The Cup was the ultimate wingman, as the 21-year-old NHL star -- who scored the winning goal in the Stanley Cup finals -- hoisted it over his head on his way into Industry nightclub.

We asked Kane if he was gonna score chicks with the Cup -- to which he simply responded, "I better."

Kane could learn a lot right now from Toews. I don't want to spoil the kid's fun, but I'm afraid he's gonna get himself into trouble. You don't see Toews doing this stupid [expletive].

Boers and Bernstein were talking about this yesterday. There's nothing wrong with partying and having fun right now but it sounds like some people are a little concerned. He could probably do without the cab driver and shirtless jokes also.

Yep. Toews and Kane are complete opposites. It's amazing how mature Toews is at 22.
