Bonds proud of McGwire

Bonds should just shut and get a coaching job in SF like a decent steroid cheater!

I don't know how his communication skills are, but hiring the best hitter the game has ever seen is probably a good idea.

BUT HE CHEATED!!111!!!11ONE.

If he can communicate his talents appropriately then he would definitely be worthwhile. However, one of the things that made him so great was his incredible strike zone knowledge, and then the amazing ability to actually deliver on the one decent pitch he saw. I don't know if that's something you can teach. Worth a shot, though.

Some people aren't interested or capable of sharing what made them so successful. I could be wrong about Bonds (and I've certainly voiced my dislike for the guy, so I could be a bit biased), but he doesn't/didn't seem like the type that wants others to excel at the game.

He portrays himself as being bigger than the game, thus he would never stoop down to help someone else potentially break one of his records. Maybe I'm totally off base, but that's just the way I view his attitude towards the game.

Sorry, but you are WAY off base. What's his career BA?

Did he pass Cobb, Speaker, Hornsby, Babe, Gherig Musial or DiMag? Did he even come close?

Anyone that supports that turd must have NO respect for the game. Let me make it a little plainer: Bonds is a lying, cheating bloated fraud, and if you can't see that then you must be CRAZY.

Yes to all, save Ruth, depending on how you feel about translating performance across eras.

Obviously, similarity scores aren't the end-all-be-all, but I do get a kick out of seeing BR's list for Bonds after Magdal's rant:

# Willie Mays (762) *

# Hank Aaron (748) *

# Babe Ruth (738) *

# Frank Robinson (725) *

# Ken Griffey (679)

# Mel Ott (666) *

# Rafael Palmeiro (642)

# Ted Williams (608) *

# Jimmie Foxx (604) *

# Dave Winfield (584)

Hell, just go by his numbers through '98 if one wants to get an idea of how good a hitter he was:

.290 .411 .556 .966 164 (with 411 home runs)

If you're going to call bonds a cheater or say that he doesn't play the game the right way then I wouldn't use Cobb as a comparison.

I think Bonds is a jackass and used roids like so many others. One of my least favorite personalities in the game, ever.

I'd love to have him as a hitting coach, if we didn't already have another dirty cheating hitter with a superb eye and terrific instincts. Oh, sorry, Magdal, you're right, his BA was low!
