I'm pretty sure we started 1-3 in 2008 as well. No need to panic yet. If anything, its good that it has been exposed early that our bullpen is bad, instead of having guys play over their heads and then implode later in the season. It wouldn't surprise me if we made a trade for an extra arm within the next couple weeks or so if things don't improve.

This team is not nearly as good as the 2008 team

Jesus Christ people, it's four games.

We lost two on the road to what is probably the second best team in the NL, and we lost one heartbreaker on the road to a pretty decent team. With the exception of opening day, we've played a couple good teams pretty damn close. It's not like we're being beat on by the 1899 Cleveland Spiders here or something.

With some decent health and a deadline deal or two, there's no reason this club can't compete.

It doesn't need to be in order to get into the playoffs. Going just by the regular season, nobody would have taken the 06 Cardinals over the 08 Cubs, but yet the 06 Cardinals played well when it counted and the 08 Cubs choked. In other words, all we have to do is get in.

Gerald Perry was the hitting coach for (I believe) a year and a half and then Von Joshua took over around the middle of last year. Jaramillo then took over in the offseason.

So it's been 3 hitting coaches in 3 years, but not exactly one year per hitting coach.

I think it was actually 2 1/2 years for Perry. I think he started with the Cubs along with Lou in 2007.

Yeah, I think you're right about that. My timeline was off a bit.

the 2006 cardinals made the playoffs because the division was a joke; to beat the 2010 cardinals, the cubs are going to have to be good.
