What an ugly list.
Hence the reason for the "other" option in case anybody can think of a better choice than the Cubs seem to be considering.

So why don't you vote otherwise?

I voted for him. He's probably the best option, but he sucks. That was my point. I'd rather have kept an actual SS on the roster in Blanco. I'd be fine with keeping a bat that has limited defensive ability, the problem is none of these guys have a bat.

Since Tracy is willing to go to AAA I voted Hoffpauir in the hopes that last year was just a big slump (since he was bad in both Iowa and Chicago) and that he can get closer to where he was in 2007/2008.

I don't think it will really matter who gets it though. I bet Millar will have it at first. As soon as they need a backup 3B though, Tracy will come up. Or they might need a backup SS and Barney will come up. Or they may decide they need another OF if Nady can't play the field much and bring up Fuld. Unless Millar gets off to a hot start, that will likely be at the expense of his roster spot. This choice will really only affect the first few weeks.

Yeah, but they don't have Blanco anymore. Given the craptacular options available in the poll I don't see why it's so questionable or surprising that almost everyone picked Tracy.

I wasn't saying it's surprising, I was just pointing out that it's a landslide in favor of a pretty crappy player.

Well, they're all pretty crappy players.

which is the entirety of his point.

I guess. I mean, it's a matter of pick your poison given that it's the final roster spot. I don't see why it's so surprising given the options.

Didn't say I was agreeing.

Frankly, after going through Neifi & crew, I learned not to spend much time worrying about the 25th man on the roster.

It was just an innocuous point, I'm not sure why it's created so many responses. There's a poll that had multiple options and it was dominated by a pretty crappy player. And he's probably not even going to get the job. It's easy to say "it's just the 25th man" but I don't think that's accurate. The 12th pitcher is just the 25th man. The 5th bench player is going to see time. Especially since he'd be the only other backup IF outside of Baker.

It could only be dominated by a crappy player. Unless you expected the votes to be more evenly split amongst all the crappy players.

It's Tracy. As mentioned in Transactions Millar was released today and Fuld and Hoffpauir both optioned to Iowa.

I'm beginning to think the front office started reading NSBB.
