The only important change to me is that the games will run nonstop now rather than taking a late afternoon break for the local news. I've had TV/computers setup in previous years so I can watch multiple games ever since March Madness On Demand came to the internet. That and I'm hoping to be in a bar from 11-11 on Thursday and Friday.

I don't know what made me just think of this, but I just realized I have attended more Iowa BB games this year than I have watched in their entirety during the Lickliter "era". I didn't even know who Devan Bawinkel was until a couple of weeks ago.

I think you use a timeout both times. He clearly called over Cartwright during the play to tell him something at the end of regulation. You have 3 friggin timeouts and it's a tie game, what's the harm in drawing it up during a timeout?

 

And I have no idea why Cartwright is taking the 2 last minute shots rather than Gatens or May.

 

I think the overtime play was designed to go to Gatens but he screwed up. It looks like Mel and Cole were going to set a double screen for him but instead he went completely in the opposite direction and was no where near the 3 point line.

 

Unless he's coming off a screen and wide open cutting toward the hoop you really can't go to May in that situation because he just can't handle the ball. Fair point on Gatens but he can't get separation or create a shot like Cartwright.

Damn, I know talent is down here but no Burger All-Americans from California this year. Hell, only 2 kids west of Texas - 1 from Oregon and 1 from Nevada.

 

(Obviously the McD roster isn't the best indicator of a HS prospect but still.)

no, there does seem to be a better effort tonight. too bad for him because he went from late first to undrafted.

he was ok when he was hitting that 10-15 footer with regulation. now he just can't be counted on for anything.

Yeah he was his best as a sophomore. Who has that kind of success that early and then zero confidence as a senior?

i think that if they can keep up this defensive intensity, they can win this game. they'll need to keep subbing though and play a depth game.
