Fair enough. I think Strasburg is much, much better than Wood.

At this point in their careers, definitely.

Yeah, as far as polish goes, for sure. But as far as talent goes, I don't think so.

And I don't think Strasburg will live up to the hype, or even come that close. I think he'll be really good, but I'm not buying into all the hype, either.

It may just be me, I think these days we're seeing and hearing a lot more buzz about prospects than we used to, and often times expectations are just too high.

So 5 starts for Strasberg before he pitches the best game in MLB history?

Wood would probably kill for the career Strasburg is likely about to start.

Former major league pitcher Curt Schilling, now an analyst for ESPN, said he "has never seen anything like Strasburg," and Schilling also said that he might be the best pitcher in the major leagues as soon as he arrives.

So this kid throws a slurve!!! Well, he does want to be a Kerry Wood, isn't that the pitch that eventually lead Kerry to surgery?

stop typing forever

I am still waiting for something intelligent out of you, wasn't a well thought of rebuttal.

It was throwing an insane number of them that led to surgery.

We can agree it is a nasty pitch that can lead to trouble, so would you advise him to take it out of his repertoire?

lol...you just decided to read whatever you wanted there. It wasn't the pitch. It was the number of pitches.

No, I did read it and I understand your point, but who has done a demographic on the maximum and minimum number of that pitch or the number of batters in a row it should/could be thrown before arm/muscle/tendon deteriorates?

If you are young strapping kid that is having trouble getting guys out with your other pitches wouldn't you go back to the old stand-by? Kerry did throw too many but how many of those were his choice, the coach isn't out there to tell him not to throw it and if it is working he is going to throw it as much as possible. Riggleman now has experience with this situation will he advise the kid to keep that pitch to a bare minimum

You're talking about the slurve like that was the primary reason for Wood's DL issues. That clearly wasn't the case. It's not some kind of pitching Russian roulette.
