BA's list is out, to be honest I'm not a fan.

No Kyler Burke is just...I mean wow. And Logan Watkins at 7? FTH?

Yeah, they have Kyler in their projected starting line-up in 2012, but not in the Top 10 prospects. Seems like a disconnect there.

Im really shocked that Jackson has leapfrogged VItters and Cashner in the BA list. Not a bad thing, just means that our system has some depth. Also, as far as the NSBB list, I thought that Coleman would have been there, but I have no complaints with the list.

For once, Im really excited about our farm system and hope we dont trade any key players for rent a players. With Ricketts love for the farm system,, I wouldnt think that would be a problem anyway.

Just out of curiosity, does Wellington Castillo even register anymore?

Not surprised about the Watkins love. I wouldn't rate him that high myself but there are a lot of people in the organization who love him. He needs to get a chance to play SS again but that's tough with Castro, Lee and Lake around.

NSBB Top Cubs Prospects: Part 1

Thanks for compiling that.

And I have to once again apologize to all for the technical difficulties I had. Thanks especially to O_O for helping work around that.

Yeah, I like him, and I see where the excitement comes from, I just can't see a slap hitter in short season ball being ranked where he is, even if he is blazing fast.

I also submitted a question asking about Burke. But I was a little bit of an ass so I doubt it gets answered.

Tim...RE: Dae-Eun Rhee. I would have responded to this if I wasn't having technical difficulties.

Tim: His Tommy John rehabilitation is taking too long to merit ranking him this high. His rehabilitation was terrifying this season.

My willingness to rank Rhee at 10 was his success at Instructs and the news that he'd be allowed to throw his devestating split next season.

Are the rankings that BA has for the Cubs overall top 10 DEFINITELY how they'll be ranked in the overall top 100 as well? I would think so, but is there any chance we still see Vitters higher on the list than Brett Jackson? Or possibly Lee over Cashner? Hell, for that matter, I guess I wonder if there is a chance Brett Jackson still misses on the overall top 100?

That said, when Callis answered the question the other day of"is Brett Jackson going to be 3 in the Cubs top 10?" with a flat out "no" I guess I'm not too surprised at him getting the 2 spot.

All in all, I'm happy with the fact that our system is definitely on the rise again, little shocked that Watkins made it over Carpenter and that neither Archer or Burke made the top 10, especially considering Archer made the Midwest League's top 20.....

No because the overall top 100 is a compilation of 4 writers at BA while this is just Callis' opinion.

The Cubs have been very conservative with him in his recovery. I just want to see more before putting him higher.

Next season he could easily be top 5-10 if he's back at full speed.

Some of the most interesting facets of the BA list was the speculation on where guys could be playing next year. For instance, saying that the Cubs might skip Lee up to Daytona hasn't been a popular opinion, but I think that's what the Cubs might do in spite of the impact on Flaherty and LeMahieu.

Furthering that point (now that I reopened the article!), they have the following destinations mentioned:

Castro - Tenn with Barney blocking him at Iowa

BJack - Tenn!

Vitters - Tenn!

Cash - Tenn

JJack - Tenn (feeling like an early season road trip to Tennessee anyone?)

Lee - Daytona

Watkins - Peoria

Carp - Tenn

Flaherty - Daytona

LeMahieu - Daytona

JAYPERS (IL): How many of these guys would you nominate for BA's Top 100 Prospects list, and about where would you rank them?

Jim Callis: I'd consider the top six guys for the Top 100, though I haven't come close to trying to put a list together yet. Off the top of my head, Castro could fit in the first 25, Brett Jackson and Vitters in the middle of the list somewhere, and Cashner, Jay Jackson and Lee would be candidates for the bottom third of the list.

Castro love goes insane.

Adduci was someone we didn't cover at all in our chat.

I can see him as someone that gets a peek at the majors at some point, but I just can't see him ever being a starter - even for a bad club.

Castro in the top 25? Wow, it's awesome to see how much pub he's gotten since the season's been over. We've seen it coming with the season he just had, but I didn't think for a minute he could move up THAT far. Hell, when the season was over, I was still wondering if he had a chance to ovetake Vitters for our overall number 1, as I'm sure most were.

I had seen AZ Phil mention Vitters as possibly starting in Tenn, but hadn't heard it anywhere else either. You kind of have to wonder if this is at least POSSIBLY to do with the fact that Aramis has an opt out after 2010. I'd like to see Vitters have some success at Daytona in an ideal world, but he's hit very well in the AFL, so if they think he can handle it, I guess all we can do is hope for the best.

I disagree with Jay and Brett Jackson starting off in Tenn as well. I think Jay begins next year in Iowa personally, especially if the reports are true abput him and Ryno not seeing eye to eye. And while I can see Brett ENDING the year at Tenn, I see him beginning it in Daytona at the very least.

If I thought anyone was going to skip Daytona, it'd be Flaherty honestly, due to his age. I also don't see Lee jumping to Daytona next year, UNLESS by some chance we traded Castro(which I truly don't see nor want to see happening)
