For a 1-2 year deal only. I know he's old, but he hits lefty and put up a .854 OPS this season with 24 HR's.

Go ahead and call me an idiot now.

Can he play CF anymore? Does his noodle arm fit in RF?

Maybe for a 1 year deal. But he's gonna fall off a cliff soon. I'd rather stay away.

Sounds exactly like a Cubs move. Overpay a 3yr contract to a 36 year old whose biggest asset (speed) is on a rapid decline and who just matched a career year in HR's (due in large part to the new Bronx bandbox).

Yeah i would offer Damon more than a one year deal with second year club option. People are biting too much into his stats. I think he benefited a lot from playing in Home Run Yankee Stadium. I think his numbers will be nearly as good as this year elsewhere unless he went to the rockies. I'm very skeptical of older players posting up huge numbers, especially with all the HGH and Steriods circling around.

I'd be shocked if Damon got less than 3 years.

If he stays with the Yankees, he'll get less than 3 yrs but if he signs with someone desperate, i could see him signing a 3yr deal. I think 3yrs is the max he'll get, just depends on how those three years are structured.

Yeah, I don't see why people think Damon gets this huge contract, when superior players got peanuts last offseason. I think most of these FAs are going to be very disappointed.

Superior in your opinion.(not saying you're wrong) I'd bet most people think Johnny Damon is better than all the free agent OFs of last year(2 of which got 3 year deals) Plus, he's a winner.

Damon should get not better than a deal between what Abreu and Burrell got last offseason.

seeing how burrell played this year, damon should definitely do better than him.

Should or will? Besides, Damon's a better fielder than both and is coming off of a better offensive season.

I should've qualified my post by saying that with Damon, certain subjective factors ('04, '09, speed, looks like a neanderthal) come into play. The higher profile could guarantee him unwarranted dollars/years.

Well at least we know Hendry never gets over excited about intangibles like WS experience, or left handed leadoff ability. And he never overpays for free agents.

+1

He pretty much fits the typical profile of a Cubs move. Dude needs to grow back the beard too. I loathe clean shaven Johnny Damon for some reason.
