Names I wouldn't mind being Cubs in 2010 through unknown mea

Recommended Posts

I'd pass on all the SS honestly. Drew is a definite upgrade, but he'll cost alot in terms of prospects. I'd rather use Theriot for one more year and see what Castro can do in 2011 or even sooner, if he keeps progressing at his current rate.

I don't see Crosby or Greene as anything more than backups at this point and Wood has yet to prove anything at the major league level and could possibly be a downgrade from Theriot even

I'm definitely on board with Hudson or Iwamura. I'd be good with Cameron, OK with Hermida as an alternative to Reed, but not as a starter. Would love Crawford. Definitely want to see some sort of SP, don't see us shelling out big bucks though, so a high upside guy like Harden or Bedard would be great, if you asked me.

Honestly, I don't want to see us spend a cent on the bullpen this offseason, especially if they re-sign Grabow. We've got enough in house guys to put together a decent pen.

This board has a strange obsession with wanting to replace Ryan Theriot with an inferior player. As for the other guys, Sheets is really the only name that interests me. Assuming he doesn't already have an agreement with the Rangers I could see Hendry making a play for him

I would be happy with Cameron (shift Kosuke to RF), a flier on an injury pitcher Sheets or Bedard, and Iwamua, Hudson, or Lopez for 2B. We could probably make all those moves for under $20 mil. Hopefully we can find someone to take a decent chunk of Bradley's contract or at least get a good player back.

We'll see what he gets in arbitration. I'm more than okay with Theriot's production at league minimum. If he gets overpaid in arbitration, which I could see happening, I'm good with looking at other options.

ns:

Stephen Drew

Jeremy Hermida

Orlando Hudson

Brandon Wood

Akinori Iwamura

Bobby Crosby/Khalil Greene - If the first two SS's don't work...why not?

Mike Cameron

Rocco Baldelli

Rich Harden

Erik Bedard

John Lackey

Cliff Lee

Ben Sheets

Rafael Soriano

Other good pen arms

Carl Crawford

I'd like Harden, Bedard, Lee, Sheets, Soriano, Crawford, and Lackey on that list. The rest I could very happily do without.

i'm assuming that when you say "inferior", you mean "better at baseball"

You'd take guys like Wood, Greene, and Crosby over Theriot?

Khalil Greene sucks out loud. I don't understand the obsession with him.

well he sucks now, but back when people were wanting him there was good reason. from 04-07, he put up OPS+'s of 114, 95, 97, and 105. for comparison's sake, ryan theriot in his career year (2008) only put up a 93. he was at 85 this season.

so combine greene's good hitting from 04-07 with his good defense and you can see why people wanted him.

now he just sucks though. i don't know what happened.
