The Cubs wanted Tejada and Bedard for Prior.

 

The Orioles wanted Prior and Pie for Tejada.

We would have a player who is still in baseball vs. a player who is not. If we had Tejada we may not have had the money available to sign Soriano or even the need. At the time it would have seemed like a dumb trade, but who knows how it would have changed things.

Full disclosure, though, I was 100% against trading Prior at the time because, like an idiot, I thought he was the future of the franchise. So I guess I don't really have any room to talk. But still, if I could turn back the clock.....
