Why? Top seeds fall in the first round all the time. All it takes is a Huet collapse or two and our backs are to the wall. How many games can we win when our goalie is giving up 3-4 goals every other game like Huet has been?

i never said it's impossible for them to lose in the first round... but saying " i can't see them getting out of the first round with huet" is really ridiculous.

yeah partially. No I don't really think they are likely to lose in the first round but now that the goaltending isn't holding up like it had in the past (and to a lesser extent the defense) the thought seems marginally more possible than it was.

the top line really needs to pick it up. since the minnesota collapse, toews and kane are both minus 5, and the team is just 6-4-1 since then

 

also, the hawks have now fallen to 3rd overall in the nhl for the best record behind washington and san jose. vancouver is also closing in and coming fast. they just came back from a 3 goal deficit and beat toronto for their 7th straight win. if they beat montreal on tuesday, they'll be just 6 points back of the hawks with the same number of games played.

Bad loss but I'm not too upset over it. It's tough to fly across the country and play a game two nights later. Especially at the end of a long road trip after an emotionally draining win.

 

I just hope if Chicago doesn't get the 1 seed that Detroit will get the 8th seed so I'll be satisfied with 2nd.

I don't think Detroit will be the 8. I think they will be more like the 5 or 6. I think the Preds and Flames will struggle in the post-Olympic schedule.

The Hawks have taken 27 of their last 42 (13-5-1) which is still a pretty good clip and we've done nothing but lose ground to them, blah.

To be fair, the playoffs are the Sharks kryptonite. They haven't made it past the 2nd rd since 2003-04. So when they are on the big stage they tend to fold.
