I am going to game 2. I had tickets for game 5 as well but I had to sell them. I shouldn't have bought 2 games in my current financial situation. I can't wait, I haven't been able to goto a game all year.

On to a shootout. Will the Hawks need a win tomorrow or just a trip to OT?

OK well we're going to need a win tomorrow. Sharks won the shootout.

 

I'm sure the Wings and their fans would take great pleasure in denying us the number 1 seed.

 

That was a pretty exciting shootout. Sharks went up 2-0 in the shootout, then the Coyotes got 2 back making a save in between, and then the Sharks won it with a goal in the 5th round.

In terms of the 7 seed, this obviously only matters if the Hawks can't come up with 2 points tomorrow. But if that's the case, Detroit wins and gets 2 points and they cannot fall to 7th place.

-Hawks win 1 seed, play Colorado

 

2. Hawks lose, Los Angeles wins

-Hawks get 2 seed, play Nashville

 

3. Hawks lose, Los Angeles loses

-Hawks get 2 seed, play Los Angeles

I think Wings fans would take pleasure in this, the Wings themselves probably don't care that much. I have a feeling the Wings will play some balanced minutes with Osgood in goal. I also wouldnt be surprised if Lidstrom or Rafalski are healthy scratches

being a midwestern team in the western conference is difficult. It isnt so much the effect of traveling for one series, it is the effect of traveling for 2 or more series. Probably the last thing the Hawks would want is to play LA then Vancouver then San Jose. No one in the East will even play a playoff series outside the eastern time zone until the SCF. I am not saying this will allow the eastern team to win, but I think teams like Chicago would prefer to at least get 1 or 2 not so dramatic travel series. This is also why being #1 seed is important(especially in the western conference), one less travel day per series.
