i hope you're right

do you think q should go back to huet over niemi now?

Absolutely. But then, I've never been sold on Niemi compared with most fans. He's a guy who barely beat out Crawford for the backup spot, then had a nice hot streak.

A couple weeks ago on 670, Bernstein was reading an e-mail from a guy who was talking about advanced goaltending stats. Basically pointing out that not all shots are equal so save percentage can be misleading. He was saying it's determined by charting of games similar to a lot of the NBA advanced stats.

It certainly could have some flaws but is anyone else aware of where to find some of these numbers?

I wish we could put some more in. I don't like the way they are letting the Oilers hang around, especially with the goaltending struggling.

the refs missed that terribly, but i'm more pissed at huet. through the legs again.

he hasn't had to do anything this game at all and he's still found a way to give up 2 horribly soft goals and put the team behind.

Oh boy.

Good move not getting a goaltender Hawks.

I hate to act pessimistic in any way towards this team, but they have not looked like a dominant team in a month or two (not inc. the Olympic break). Remember when they would go on streaks of scoring 4+ goals every game? Where is that team? Where is the team that had 2 goalies among the league leaders in shutouts? Where the hell are they? Where is the team who went into one of if not the hardest arena to play in the NHL and throttle that team 7-2? It would really really be a shame if the team blew probably their biggest opportunity.

I like to think they are in coast mode until the playoffs (probably not the case but it makes me feel better.

Obviously I'm one of the biggest supports Huet has, but those were two incredibly soft goals. You simply cannot be beat from the angle of the first goal, and you can't be that slow to close your five-hole on the second goal. Ugly.

Blah, I'm overreacting a bit. Just frustrating to see one of the worst teams in hockey lead on our home ice towards the end of the 2nd period. But at least we are tied going into intermission.

Oilers only have 11 SOG, and 2 have gone in hah.

well, they should have had more goals last night and should have at least 4 tonight. for some reason goalies continue to stand on their heads when playing us

After seeing people (including myself) complain about that just about every night you have to wonder if that's really the case.

With the win, the Hawks have tied the Sharks for 1st in the East, with equal number of games played. Washington remains 3 points ahead of the Hawks for best record in hockey, also with equal games played.
