If the Hawks had Luongo, do you think they'd be going on 52-0-0 right now?

I was thinking about that as well, that last goal was super soft.

Unless the Hawks can get 2 goals in the last 1:25, the Hawks will no longer have the best goal differential in NHL. Washington will be +52 and the Hawks +50. San Jose is at +49 after the 2nd period of their game tonight, and will be 4 points ahead of the Hawks for 1st in the West.

The Hawks slump, and the Sharks just never stop winning, blah.

Wait -- the 2-1 against the Sedins was soft? Give me a break.

We won't play another home game for awhile yet. I feel like this team is becoming a little road-weary. But they still need to plow through a few more games before they can come home.

This is a tough stretch.

February 3rd is the next home game. The good news there is three more road games, at Edmonton (16-28-6), San Jose (35-10-8) Carolina (15-28-7), which means if the Hawks can win two of three they would have finished the road trip at 5-3, which, IMO, is acceptable.

You don't think so? You knew it was going to go from left to right maybe, I being a little unrealistic.

It's a 2 on 1. The goalie's responsibility is the shooter, he can't move until the puck is passed. The defender's responsibility is to make sure that the puck carrier can't stick handle across the crease and to ensure the pass doesn't get through. When the pass does get through, there will be an open net. There was absolutely nothing Huet could do there.

God I hate the Canucks.

Yes Ryan, Ladd just [expletive] you up again. So you go and whine about it to the media. How's your face doing little buddy?

lollllll. i like i said in my post during the game, kesler is a bitch. ladd stuck him with a left and kesler turtled and then lifted him up nd took him down so he wouldnt have to fight.

god i hate that team so much

In fairness, if I just got blasted with a left in the eye, I'd probably go down too. If Kesler hadn't done that, Ladd might still be pounding fists into his yap. But, if Kesler is so pissed off and thinks Ladd wronged him, you gotta stand up for yourself and be a bit tougher than that.

Yeah, it's difficult for me to call that one soft.

re: the kesler/ladd stuff

"We all had a pretty good laugh at it," Ladd said after practice on Monday. "It's pretty tough to take, I guess, when we square off and he takes one shot [to the face] and decides to bail on the fight."

"I highly disagree with the comment," Colin Fraser said. "It was man on man, one on one, they faced each other fair and square, and he took one punch and decided he didn't want to fight anymore, so he dumped Laddy. To sit there and call him a coward is beyond me."

When asked if it was a "punk" thing to say about someone, Dustin Byfuglien said: "He is a little punk. That's what it is. Ladd obviously got the better part of that thing. He can say what he wants, and Ladd can take care of himself."

Ladd seemed surprised that Kesler was still thinking about the playoff incident. The teams have played twice before Saturday night and nothing had gone down.

"I guess he was really holding on to that one," Ladd said."I'm a pretty honest player. I play the game hard and fair, and if he wants to whine about it, go ahead ... I guess he was saving that one for a big radio interview or whatever."

^Pretty funny quotes there.

I also read some interesting quotes from Kane in the Daily Herald, talking about being Kesler's teammate on the olympic team. He basically said it wouldn't be easy and it's just a few weeks and he'll deal with it.

LOL the Hawks just did an entire line change without leaving the Hawks zone or losing control of the puck.

Dammit...another bad turnover in Edmonton's zone. Thankfully it didn't hurt us.

you mean the oilers zone, but eah... that was pretty awesome

Yeah Oilers zone...brainfart.

I think this is the absolute best time to play a terrible team like Edmonton. We've gone through a bit of a slump (for us) lately, we've had 3 days off so we've had time to practice things and we don't have to worry about the Hawks overlooking the Oilers or giving less than 100% because after 3 days off they should be excited to play some hockey.
