Now we're just holding the puck and attacking. I'm not used to seeing the Hawks not attacking until the end.

????

they've been attacking and controlling the puck all game. the flames have had a few good pushes but they havent lasted long. hawks should be up like 5-1 right now

I'm talking since about 7 minutes left in the game, we take the puck in their zone, and dump it into our zone whenever challenged. I'm just saying I'm used to the Hawks in these situations pushing hard for the third goal to put the game out of reach.

they only did that for like 3 minutes, and that was when calgary was pushing hard

Exactly, it happened and I wasn't used to seeing it. It was much longer than 3 minutes though.

Since your challenging all my posts (and that's fine), to respond to your other comment, I kinda missed most of the first 2 periods, but I was aware they were dominiating the play. It wasn't pretty, it was a game we grinded out, despite not converting on a lot of our chances. Our game winning goal was a deflection off a skate...it was one of those kind of games.

no i agree that there were parts of the game (especially after the hawks took the 2-1 lead) where calgary was pushing hard and the hawks were back on the heels, i just think you're selling them a little bit short overall. i thought they played outstanding.

but yeah, you should seen kiprusoff in the first 30 or so minutes of the game. he was insane. he robbed madden alone 3 times point blank. he's the only reason they were still in the game in the second half.

I still think when you're on the road -- especially a long road trip -- you don't complain about dominating or not dominating. You take any win that you can get, however you can get it.

Niemi starting again tonight, per the Trib. He has to know how important this start is for him. Here's hoping he responds well to the pressure.

Sounds like Quenneville is making a statement.

Wow. This is game two of a four game home stand for Vancouver, but after this they have a 14-game road trip that wraps around the Olympic break. Eight straight road games before the break and six straight after. I know most of them will get a break during the Olympics, but that's still a crazy amount of consecutive road games.

That's like what the Braves had to do in 1996 and what the Cubs and Sox would have done if Chicago won the Olympics. Imagine how chaotic it would have been with both the Cubs and Sox out of town for 3 weeks. Usually when the Cubs are home the Sox are away and vice versa.

so who can we trade and what goalie will be available for us to trade for

Nobody. We're just going to have to hope and pray that one of them gets hot at the right time.

Sloppy play all around, the third goal all on Niemi couldn't control the rebound, the second unforced turnover, the first a bounce that went Vancouver way. Basically, they've taken advantage of every Hawk mistake, it more the Hawks lack of good play than anything the Canucks are doing.
