I can watch college football today, and there are two other NFL games I care about tomorrow (Colts and Panthers games). So although I'm anxious for the Bears' game to start, there's plenty of other football to whet the appetite until then.

Meanwhile, it's been well over a week since I've watched a Cubs game.

So why the hell are the Williams allowed to cheat?

So why the hell are the Williams allowed to cheat?

I don't understand how they made a legal case out of it.

I guess if any player is suspended for violating a drug test, they can just take it to court and apparently they won't be punished for cheating.

Because they're just that good.

It's a weird deal. The initial appeal started because StarCaps were a weight loss supplement to help them make contract weight in time for training camp. Star Caps weren't on the banned list and when players called in to the NFL hotline that tells them what's banned, StarCaps weren't among the banned substances. Then they were tested at the beginning of camp and halfway through the year found out they were illegal.

Then it somehow turned into a weird state employment law case.

I'm so nervous for this game. Am I the only one not confident about the team this year?

1) Is Cutler so good that he can overcome the total fail of our receiving corps?

2) Can our front four put enough pressure on the opposing QB to effectively run the Cover 2?

3) Can our secondary stop elite receivers?

Right now I say no to all three, which severely worries me. I only feel confident about two things currently...Forte running behind this O-Line, and our LB corps.

And this team was so horrible last year despite those weaknesses that it went 9-7 with a vastly inferior quarterback and a likely inferior offensive line and likely inferior LB corps (compared to this year), with 3-4 games that were blown at the end by a fatigued defense.

Am I confident in this team? Yes.

Why is it that people realize the difference a quarterback makes until we get one?

You don't have to have the inflection of me being stupid because I don't appreciate his value or something. It's a valid concern. I'm worried by how Broncos fans view him. Obviously they're biased, but they sure as [expletive] don't look at him as a clutch performer. And like I said, even if he is a savior, man our receivers suck. I mean you can put every pass right between the numbers of say, rashied davis, and he's still dropping half of them. And on top of all this, can our defense actually get off the field?

I'm not meaning to imply that you're stupid. It was more of a general comment. For some fans, it's natural to question their own teams and look at them in a more negative light.

Not that I buy into clutch numbers or any of that nonsense, but Jay Cutler had a 94.2 4th quarter rating last year. Broncos fans are MORE than biased. He may have had some games at the end of the season that weren't up to his standards, but the fact is, he was much more the reason for the left half of their record and their defense had a lot more to do with the right half. Broncos fans who pretend not to like Cutler now and to be happy with the current situation are delusional homers. The vast majority of them would take the trade back in a second, if they could. And Rashied Davis is our 4th receiver, at best (not that this was a major point, but come on).

Our receivers don't suck. They're unproven. Yes, we'd be a lot better with a better #1 and everyone else slotting down, but they will produce just fine with our TE corps being the go-to threat in the passing game. That 2 TE set is going to do a lot for us.

I've already spoken on our defense.

I'm expecting a high scoring game but I think Green Bay wins this one.

Bears are a 4 point dog right now with an O/U of 46.

I'd take the Packers and the over

None of my defense of the team changes the fact that I could just as easily see them finishing 3rd in the division as I could see them finishing 1st.

To add to what I've said before about the defense and how the offense made it look much worse, our offense was among the best (if not the best) in average starting field position last year while our defense was among the worst, if not dead last.

The field position is a good point. Hopefully our defense can continue the bend and don't break motto, while collecting a lot of turnovers. That'd definitely help Cutler out a lot. Is it odd to foresee our linebackers getting more picks/FF's than our secondary though?

And to join the party..... Bears 20 | Packers 16

Man how can you people all be Packers fans? They're green and stupid. I just never understood why anyone would want to be affiliated with that team.
