I think it's very likely that Hendry gets fired and Lou steps down after this team fails to make the playoffs. 1) Who do you WANT to take over for those two? 2) Who do you THINK will take over for those two?

I don't think the new owners will fire Hendry, partly because it's a transition period and partly because there's a very good chance that the budget will be limited at least through next year and that any new GM would be severely limited by that and the current contracts. If that is indeed the case, why hire a new guy just to take the fall for someone else's mess that they can't do much of anything about?

I wouldn't be surprised if Lou walks, but I'd very suprised if Hendry was fired.

I guess Ill have to agree with you on that. Its one thing to fire a guy if its going to help the organization and you have something better lined up, but its not smart to fire him as a punishment when the backup might not be any better and not have any money to work with.

I'd ultimately have no problem if Hendry was fired if the Cubs don't make the playoffs (though as I've said I'm not confident at all that his replacement would be any better) but for better or for worse I don't see it happening due to the mess of the sale. Part of me hopes that I'm wrong and that the money is there but if the payroll is effectively frozen or with minimal increase for the time being it would be pretty redundant to bring in someone new since they'd have next to nothing to work with.

Ive been all about Bobby Valentine for skipper since I heard he planned on coming back to the states after this season.

I'm 110% on board with this. Man that'd be awesome.

I think Lou hangs it up if the Cubs don't make the playoffs. His fire is gone and he seems like the end is near. I'm all for Brenly to become the new manager.

As far as GM I just want Hendry gone. After the ARam deal he hasn't impressed me at all and this season was a epic fail on his end.

This team was built to fail in 2009 mainly because of Jimbo. Run him no matter what.

The new owner might also not want to have to pay Hendry for not working for the next 3 years.

Plus, that's assuming the sale goes through in the next 2 months. If the sale is completed in November or later, Hendry stays for sure in order to make sure that the 2009 offseason isn't a total wash.

I could personally see Hendry staying around, but not as GM. Wasn't he quite good at scouting before taking the office job and not watching players anymore? Could just shift him to that.

I'm not sure what to expect out of Lou. Whether missing out on the playoffs will send him into the sunset, or if it will inspire him to come back for one more year to leave on a better note.

I would definitely be a fan of that.

It's amazing how many people want this.

Same people that wanted Steve Stone as GM.

Eventually, eryone would end up hating Valentine as much as any other manager.

Maybe he can follow in Lou and Dustys footsteps and give us 2 good seasons before the bottom drops out. Hopefully 1 of those can be a championship.

Actually Dusty didn't give us any good seasons.

While this will never happen, but what would the reactions be if somehow Larussa was brought on as the manager in 2010.

Well, for one, creepy Cardinals fan would have an epic meltdown, the likes of which has never been seen.

refer to Jim Edmonds. It wouldnt go over at first with alot of fans, but if he helped us win, it wouldnt take long to welcome him in.
