One might ask why we didn't do it if all it took was a PTBNL...He's got decent #s this year and hasn't been used too terribly much...he might have been helpful down the stretch.

The Brewers are ahead of us in Waiver order assuming they claimed him. I have no idea if they did or if he made it all the way through. He's not terrible, and he is not Heilman.

I read it to mean he'd passed through waivers...if they claimed him before us, nothing we could have done about it obviously...but if he passed through and then got traded I wonder why we didn't make an effort.

We tried the Weathers experiment once and he sucked for us, badly.

Maybe badly was overstating it, but he sucked for us. He allowed inherited runners to score more often than he held them, which makes his numbers from that period deceiving.

weathers didn't like the way he was used/his role in the bullpen during his tenure with the cubs in 2001.
