Why would Jay Jackson be sent back to Daytona, when he has been fairly successful at Tenn all year? Maybe he is being traded, if not let him take his lumps at AA.

Agreed, it's dumb if true.

Vitters not playing for the second straight game.

Boise gets a run in the first on back-to-back-to-back bunt singles from Lee, Watkins, and Jackson, followed by a run scoring DP from Bour. Bizarre.

Just out of curiosity, why did Lemhieu get bumped to Peoria already over these guys?

Probably because he is older and more advanced. It is amazing what Lee and Watkins are doing in Boise, I hope they just let them finish the season there.

Toby Matchulat back pitching for Mesa after 8 days off. He only went 1 inning but it's good to see him pitching again. More importantly for WSR, Brad Snyder is DHing and hit a first inning HR.

crap, Miles is 3-3, meaning he could weasel his way back up, unless of course hes traded.

Gaub with another great inning. I hit and nothing else. And what is it again the Lou feels he needs?

It's not a good long-term decision. It's one month of having him at the end of the bullpen vs. having an extra option

As of now, Jay Jackson is still on Tennessees roster, but I dont know how often they update.

Don't know if anyone noticed but Matt Camp had 4 outfield assists in yesterday's Iowa game.

Junior Lake still won't walk and strikes out about a third of the time, but his batting average is up to .260.

Julio Peña has a 23-2 K-BB ratio in 25.1 AZL innings.

What are Brett Jacksons numbers since joining the Cubs?

In 3 games w/ AZL and 24 w/ Boise hes .343/.455/.424/.879 with 1 HR. Hopefully, more powers on its way. Its not that often when a guys OBP is higher than his SLG.

Cashner was sharp last night despite the walks. I'm uploading the video to the AZ servers right now, I'll try and weasel some away after its done later.

According to our radar guns, Cashner topped out at 99mph. In the first inning or two his fastball averaged between 95 and 98. He only hit 99 once as far as I can remember. In the later innings he was averaging about 91-94, but he dialed it up a few times to reach 97 and 98. He was good.

Shockingly, Cody Evans was doing great but they pulled him and then the Cubs demolished the BayBears again. Of all the home runs hit by the Cubs, only one of them was a "just barely", the rest were no doubters. Castillo's were epic, one of them hit the top of what we call "BayBear Mountain", it's a hill in left field where fans can sit. The top of it is about 25 feet past the wall.

I'll try and make a compilation video of Cashner's outing as well as the HR's the Smokies have hit sometime later, probably this weekend

Oh yeah, Chen was decent as well. He doesn't have an overpowering fastball by any means, but his slider, when on, is nasty. Unfortunately, it's only on about 20% of the time, the rest of the time he's serving up meatballs. He's lucky the BayBears were in a funk, otherwise they'd be matching the Smokies home run output. But yeah, when his slider was working it had some serious bite to it, the rest of the time he was hanging it, and always hanging it over the plate, never out of the zone.

Cashner: 2nd best Cubs prospect right now.

I'd go with Castro over Cashner.
