Fun with stats:

1. Jackson has a .600 OBP on plate appearances when he doesn't whiff.

2. Jackson got his first double of the season yesterday, on his 24th pro hit. I wonder if there has been a hitter who has begun a career with more non-double hits?

who the hell is bibens-dirkx and also what the hell kind of name is that

He came from an indy league team (about 3 weeks ago?) I'm guessing dirkx is maybe a Dutch/ Belgian name.

Here in Des Moines for work and walked over and caught the first half of the game tonight.

Ascanio was terrible. Wild outside the zone, wild in the zone. Just bad.

And I have to admit I haven't paid much attention to this I-Cubs this year, but the lineup started Fuld-Miles-Taguchi.

4 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 3 K for bob hernandez. i wonder if the cubs will let him out of boise sometime.

Yeah, especially since he was in Peoria the last two seasons and was slated to start the season in Daytona before he hurt his ankle.

didn't the cubs bone over matt craig pretty bad after his suspension? seems like the same thing might be happening to hernandez.

bob hernandez ran out of gas in the 6th, giving up 2 hits and walk. he's out now - 5.1 IP, 4 H, 3 BB, 5 K. a single just plated 1 of those runners. boise just blew a DP ball so two more runs scored.

oakland's third round pick, justin marks, made his debut against the mesa cubs. it did not go well:

# Francisco Guzman singles on a ground ball to shortstop Gernaldo Castillo.

# Wes Darvill singles on a ground ball to center fielder Douglas Landaeta. Francisco Guzman to 3rd.

# Robert Wagner homers (3) on a fly ball to right field. Francisco Guzman scores. Wes Darvill scores.

# Charles Thomas walks.

# Jordan Petraitis walks. Charles Thomas to 2nd.

# Blair Springfield walks. Charles Thomas to 3rd. Jordan Petraitis to 2nd.

# Jose Guevara walks. Charles Thomas scores. Jordan Petraitis to 3rd. Blair Springfield to 2nd.

# Pitcher Change: Rony Acevedo replaces Justin Marks.

i'm listening to the boise broadcast. one of the salem-keizer hitters just got hit by pitch and the announcer says that the trainer came out to check on him, along with the manager.

it was tom trebelhorn.

While ou piching was pretty brutal, Berg, Gaub, and Parker were all great as usual for Iowa this evening. All 3 seem major league ready, and Id just assume bring one of them up and send Samardzjia back to Iowa to get work as a starter. Unfortunately, our organization is dumb and they'll probably bring Patton back instead.

I see what you're saying but he went back to Peoria after the suspension last season and he was supposed to go to Daytona this season before he got hurt.

Isn't Miles on a rehab assignment? If so, why is he getting over 35 ABs in the minors? Don't get me wrong, I don't want him up on the Cubs, but can't he force himself to get brought back up since he wasn't designated for assignment?

I think the DFA is coming if he doesnt amaze in his next few games in the minors, and since hes Aaron Miles, I dont see him amazing anyone, anywhere. Maybe their trying to shop him around before dumping him. We can hope, cant we?
