The Orioleshangout guys always over value their players and think they should get a premium for anyone they trade. It's pretty laughable over there.

Someone should tell them the Cubs are interested in Sherrill not Nick Markakis. I'd be pissed off if they gave up any of the 4 guys mentioned by themself let alone a package involving a couple.

i'd like to think the cubs know better than to trade a solid prospect (jon garland) for a middle reliever (matt karchner).

by the way, i think a reasonable offer for sherrill would be something like fox, gaub and harrison/guyer. or sub out fox and harrison/guyer and sub in carpenter.

sherrill is not good enough to fetch someone like vitters, castro, jackson or cashner.

George Sherrill is a middle reliever/set up man disguised as a closer, plain and simple. And looking at his numbers---career wise---he seems to be a left handed version of Kyle Farsnworth in that he alternates good and mediocre yrs. The O's are trying to pimp Sherrill out as the best "Available" closer on the market, when most likely most teams already have closers.

Besides there is a guy in Cincinnati I think would be a better fit in Arthor Rhodes (2009 stats: 1.67ERA/0.990whip in 40 games), that wouldn't cost the Cubs an arm and a leg and a player that the Reds wouldn't necessarily have to hold onto if they can get a couple of pieces for the future.

While I doubt McP is going to ask for what those knuckleheads at OH are asking for, I just hope Hendry realizes that there is just a good of a candidate sitting right there in Cincy as Sherrill.

Yep, he has put up some really good numbers for the Reds.
