Why would you have "always" hated Soriano?

Because from day one Soriano was a ticking time bomb just waiting to suck and in the process become a millstone around this team's neck. Then there's that stupid hop. There's also the way that he can't hit or lay off that slider away, the way he never walks and his stubborn refusal to even try to hit the ball to RF.

And yes, I hate him even when he's hitting.

Then remember when he did?

He refused to take his position. I can't recall another player ever doing that. Yes, he finally went to left and found out it wasn't so bad. But, a player refusing to go to the position the manager assigned him to offends me.

Honor is involved in duelling. It would not be honorable to challenge an injured man. Do you take me for a Sox fan?

Maybe I'm wrong, but I just don't think that happened. He didn't refuse anything when push came to shove.

let's flip that around. Why have you & others always loved Sorry-ano? I fail to see the team benefit to his act. The comment about needing to be told if he was starting the day before so "he was ready to play" should remove all doubt about his idiot-ness. The addition of yet another dropped flyball in left yesterday was icing on the cake. I've never seen a major league baseball player drop as many fly balls as him. Let alone one that also makes as much $ as him & flails at any pitch between the dugouts.

if you don't count soriano's lead off homeruns because they don't help the team win in your eyes, then you shouldn't count dropped flyballs against him when the cubs are already losing by 4 runs.

This is a non-story. Of course Soriano's frustrated. Who cares? Wouldn't you be mad if you were having a bad year and you're randomly getting benched now? Seriously, who cares. Would you rather Soriano just not give a crap?

I hate you Paul Sullivan. This isn't TMZ.

A better topic of conversation and analysis (and a better article) would be about the extent of Soriano's supposed injuries. I mean thats like, you know, factual and stuff.

I love Soriano because I just throw out all the times he makes outs. That means he gets on base every single time up.

This is the single dumbest thing i've read on here & i've read a lot of dumb things here including those that think he should lead off because he "hits leadoff home runs". How often does he do that? Three times a year? If so, is that like drawing the golden ticket or something when you are up 1-0 three times/year?

Soriano's career numbers leading off a game: .310/.350/.620/.970 54 HR 58 2B

Leading off an inning: .298/.336/.556/.892 105 HR 121 2B

2009 numbers leading off the game: .309/.329/.588/.917 5 HR

2008 numbers leading off the game: .273/.308/.475/.782 5 HR

2007 numbers leading off the game: .322/.360/.712/1.072 12 HR

It's not the leadoff home runs specifically as much as it is his very good overall numbers in the leadoff spot. He doesn't get on base as often, but when he's on base he's generally immediately in scoring position for Lee/Aramis/etc, because of the very high slugging. Thus, it's a lot easier to score him than it is your more traditional leadoff man.

I've searched back through your posts, and frankly I'm having trouble finding any that don't deal with Soriano. While it isn't technically against any rule to criticize Soriano, when that is all you ever do, it borders on trolling. If you offered any kind of insight or comment on other matters, frankly, it might only make your Soriano hatred comical, but since you only comment on him, it is quite annoying and trolling. I'm not getting on you for your hatred of Soriano as I'm sure we have many other posters and Cub fans who share a disdain for him and his contract, but when that's all you ever post about, I have to question whether you are nothing merely than a troll. Let me give you a not so subtle hint. Prove me wrong. Feel free to continue your anti-Soriano crusade if you like, but earn your keep. Show me that you have something else to discuss that is relevant to the Cubs other than your hatred for Soriano.

how often does he miss fly balls? how often does it cause the cubs to lose?

soriano's power wins more games than his bad defense loses.

Nice

------------------

I don't hate Soriano, I hate Jim Hendry for giving him that contract. I think he's trying as hard as he can (at the plate, not in left). I know appearances can be deceptive but it looks to me like he is afraid of the wall both going back and to his right. Way too many balls are dropping in left that should be caught; either that or his knee is for [expletive]. Functionally it doesn't matter.

No he definitely refused at first and eventually stopped whining and accepted it. I seem to remember it dragging on a while before he finally agreed to do it

Maybe the anti-Soriano crowd have been on to something in regards to the dark side of Soriano's personality. Behind the smiles and the friendly facade lurks a soulless monster the likes of which the Cubs haven't seen since Todd Walker:

HISTORY'S GREATEST MONSTER.

He's clearly worn out this season from his neverending spree of time-travel and MURDER.
