Cubs signed LHP Casey Fossum to a minor-league contract.

Fossum will report to Triple-A Iowa. He was ineffective in his brief time with the Mets, but has a 2.92 ERA in 61 2/3 Triple-A innings with Buffalo and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. He could help a major-league bullpen.

I knew that name sounded familiar. He was an untouchable prospect for the Red Sox for a while there.

If we were going to get a former hot LHP Red Sox prospect I would've preferred Abe "One Eyed Willie" Alvarez. He's only got one working eye, but I heard that if you look into his non-working eye, you see a vision of yourself at the time of your death!!!!
