**BLASPHEMOUS STATEMENT ALERT**

i kind of like him.

he just likes getting cubs fans all worked up, and you all fall for it so easy. if i was a sox fan, i would love him for the crazy stuff he says about wrigley and cubs fans. if our manager said similar comments about sox fans and say, facial tatoos and crystal methamphetamine, we would adore him similarly. and honestly, i don't think he's a bad manager. he certainly isn't great, but he's far from bad... sort of like lou. the only thing i don't like about ozzie is the offensive & ignorant non-baseball related stuff, which is far worse than making fun of the cubs.

I like him a little, jsut for the entertainment value. I wouldn't want him as my manager...though like you, I think there's worse managers out there.

I don't understand finding entertainment in having your team's manager act like a total ass at all times and repeat childish insults about other fans bases. I mean, I wouldn't find it entertaining if Lou criticized Milwaukee or Stl.

He's a crap manager who gets all sorts of nonsensical praise for making things happen all because he managed the Sox in a season when their starting pitchers were healthy and at their best and their hitters nailed a bunch of big homeruns. They haven't done crap since then but it doesn't matter because he knows how baseball is supposed to be played, and he swears a lot.

i can't really disagree with your post. ozzie IS a huge ass, but what's so bad about that?

i love the cubs-white sox rivalry. i'm from joliet, and my friends growing up have always been split 50/50 between the cubs and sox. i love the quickly escalating arguments about who's better, i love the ####-talking, and most of all, i love hating the white sox. if ozzie wants to incite things further, let him. ozzie is an interesting character in this child's game we all take so seriously, and i don't see anything inherently harmful in that. he genuinely hates the cubs, so if he wants to rant unintelligibly about us, it just makes things that much more fun. i appreciate professionalism as well, but ozzie never criticizes the cubs as a team -- he actually defends us quite often, as he did earlier this year. he just rags on wrigley and the fans. that's not necessarily classy, but to me, that's not that big of a deal. ultimately, i understand if people hate his guts.

lou should call ozzie gay that'd be a riot

baseball in 2009 isn't overwhelmingly dissimilar to WWE.

I'm intrigued by this new discovery. Please continue.

raging steroid/PED controversies, man-children losing their cool and destroying equipment, good guys, bad guys, larger than life personalities, obsessive fan-bases devoted to the year's ever-changing storylines who pay hundreds of dollars (if not more) on merchandise, tickets, etc

He has a point to an extent. I don't like a lot of Cubs fans either but geeze does he have to spew every cliche about us.

Yes, he's playing to his fan base and it's what they believe.

I actually think I like Ozzie as a manager. I don't like him much as a person, though... and he is certainly not very bright.

His logic is so funny, though. I think if you can only sell tickets when you're winning, that shows that you have no real fan base. It doesn't make your fans smart.

i thought the best part was that the question was about packing the Cell with fans and Ozzie responds by randomly calling Wrigley a bar.

let's not pretend he doesn't have a point about Wrigley being a bar. i can tolerate that though because the more fans the higher the payroll can go.

I've been to Wrigley about 15 times, most of them in the bleachers, and I have seen/heard about 4 or 5 drunk belligerent morons that were probably just there to get drunk. I really don't think there are any more people that go to Wrigley to drink than go anywhere else, but since we sell out most games, there's this ridiculous mythos that gets built up to try to explain it apart from just saying the Cubs have a lot of fans.

i've been in the bleachers many, many times as well, but my impression is a little different than yours. there are a pretty fair amount of people there (seemingly) just to drink. obviously it's far worse in the bleachers than in other parts of the park, but the point remains. the only other parks i've been to are great american and busch (II and III), so my experience in other stadiums is limited. i definitely find that wrigley seems to have the highest number of party people.

although, i do think it's hilarious that a handful of times in the bleachers i've encountered sox fans who are just there to mock the cubs and cubs fans (not cubs/sox games, mind you) while handing money to my team hand-over-fist by buying the ticket, beer and food.

Cub fans are stupid because they go to see a bad team play, sez Ozzie. I guess that means he thinks White Sox season ticket holders are stupid, as well, since their team -- in spite of their last seven or eight games -- is pretty bad.

I tell ya, that Ozzie makes me wanna puke! Oh, sorry, that's been used for Wrigley. . .

I just visualized in my head Lou saying that the White Sox fans are idiots. In my visualization, he went on to say that Comisky is a pile of S.

I didn't laugh. I found it lame.
