Aaron Miles-2B- Cubs Jun. 26 - 6:29 pm et

Aaron Miles had X-rays taken on his hyperextended right elbow Friday.

The results were not immediately available, but it sounds like Miles will be out of action for a couple of days anyway. He injured the elbow during batting practice Wednesday in Detroit. We'll call him "day-to-day" for now.

We already have 3 other middle infielders who cant hit their way out of a paper bag, why not DL him and bring up someone like Fuld or Taguchi so we'll have someone to spell Fukudome in center every now and then, or even anothe pitcher, perhaps a loogy so Marshall can be uses as an 8th inning guy.

Any idea that suggests the promotion of Taguchi is instantly terrible.

And just so everyone knows, Casey McGehee has a 918 OPS in 100 AB's for Milwaukee so far. Not to mention we could of also had Orlando Hundson for whatever the Dodgers paid him, or that Andres Blanco IS Aaron Miles for the league minimum. Ugh ugh ugh.

I'm going to go out on a limb and bet that he goes back to sucking soon.

I think WSR is an Iowa Cubs fan who passively follows the Chicago Cubs. So Taguchi and Sam Fuld, holy [expletive].

So tell me who we have in Iowa of any use then? DuBois is the best hitter down there, but with Hoff and Fox, the last thing Lou needs is a guy without a position. Chris Robinsons been good, but we dont need 3 catchers. The only other option I could think of is rush Tyler Colvin to the majors. The only positions we really have a use for right now are a second baseman, and if they want to give Bobby Scales another shot, go for it and a back up center fielder until Reed comes back. When you have the opportunity to bring up anyone in place of Miles, go for it. No team needs nor should they have Aaron Miles, Mike Fontenot, Andres Blanco, and Ryan Freel on the same roster.

I look at it as he's doing what Hardy should be doing. I imagine both will return to the mean at some point.

But he doesn't bat left-handed.

And he's terrible.

I'd rather play with a 24 man roster than with So Taguchi.

Yeah, but you'd probably play with a 23 man roster as long as McGehee is on it.

World series winner. 2x. Intangibles, fundamentals, feel for the game, other cliches...

Plus if he were a woman Tony LaRusa would date him. How can you put a measurement on that?

I agree on So Taguchi, but why not try Sam Fuld? Now Im not saying he'll do anything of worth, but he essentially has put up steady numbers since he was tagged as untouchable by our brilliant GM 2 or 3 years ago, so why not just put him in. Hes a lefty, so hes already in Lous graces. They say hes a pretty good fielder. Granted hed be no more than a backup, but there arent a lot of guys Id prefer Miles over.

Why bother DL-ing him? Just release the waste of space already.

No we can't do that. We gave him a two year contract.

He probably has about 3 mil left. If we could trade him to some team willing to pick up 1 mil Id take it.

I'm aware of his contract. So the Cubs are financially obligated to pay him through the end of next season. So what? It would be better to pay him to do nothing than pay him to "contribute" to the team.

I agree with you, but no way is Hendry cutting this bum until at least next year. Look at some of the crap we should have cut and didn't.

Why not just DFA him?

I would just send him down. You know how the DFA ends. He ends up with the Cardinals and helps beat us a couple of times this year.
