For those of you who are interested, the Chiefs will be in Geneva (Kane County) Saturday - Tuesday. Possibly your last chance to see Vitters for a while.

Let me know if this looks right for the Chiefs upcoming games?

Fri-Carpenter :(

Sat-Beliveau

Sun-Archer

Mon-Hatley

Tues-Bristow

That's what I have, but I'm not sure if Archer's 2 inning rain-riddled start does causes any change in the schedule.

I really was hoping you'd get to see Carpenter.

Why do they got a break coming up? Did he get promoted?

I'm just guessing that he will get promoted before the Chiefs come back to Kane County (June 30).

The MWL all-star break is June 22-24. I think Vitters will be in Daytona by the 25th. The Cubs do like to promote guys right around their all-star break.

Josh Vitters, the third overall pick in ‘07, is the real story here. To be 19 and to rub shoulders with more veteran sluggers, and to do so while playing in the Midwest League, is a testament to his ability. A recent hot streak included five home runs in a week . . .

Vitters leads the MWL in HRs and Burke leads the MWL in doubles. Fox is still 2nd in the PCL in HRs.

Aaron Miles went 1/3 with a BB as he rehabs in Mesa. Ryan Freel and Luis Rivas (Iowa) are also taking BP as they try to return from injury.

But the story was the pitching, specifically lefty Jeffry Antigua and his 8 strikeouts:

Arizona Phil at The Cub Reporter[/url]"]18-year old Dominican LHP Jeffry Antigua got the start for the EXST Cubs today and was outstanding, throwing four shutout innings, allowing two ground singles and no walks, while striking out eight. He kept the ball down on every hitter, getting four ground outs in addition to the eight punchouts, including the 4-6-3 DP that featured a nice "turn" by Aaron Miles.

PITCHERS:

1. Jeffry Antigua - 4.0 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 8 K, 1 GIDP, 4/0 GO/FO

2. Tarlandus Mitchell - 2.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 4 K

3. Andres Quezada - 2.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 1 K, 1 GIDP, 4/1 GO/FO

4. Carlos Rojas - 1.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 0 K, 1/2 GO/FO

Chirinos just had a WP on a pitch that was down the middle, in his glove and then popped out and rolled all hte way to the dugout.

And Dylan Johnston made a stupid throwing error too, some shoddy Daytona defense. At least Campana throws a guy out at home.

3 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 3 BB, 1 K, 5 GO-2 FO.

Dolis is struggling with his control but when he gets in the pitching zone, he's doing really well. Charlotte is struggling to handle his FB anf they're hitting a lot of ground balls and they've had a couple of broken bats. They haven't read a velocity yet but they make it sound like he's throwing 95 or even harder (which he used to pre-TJS).

Chirinos with a no-doubt home run. The LF didn't even move, he turned around to admire it.

Is he getting swings and misses on strike 1 & 2?

On a couple pitches but I think he had like 6 or so 3-ball counts. He was getting behind a lot but it didn't sound like he was grooving too many pitches in the zone when he got behind.
