My understanding has always been that there's been wiggle room to allow a midweek change if a player gets benched by his major league team. If the player is starting but slumping that's different. If Adam is concerned about the letter of the law he can start by dropping Ben Sheets. :D

in the chat, juan said mid-week moves have always been allowed, but i really don't think that's the case. the rule says:

The active roster must be set by noon Monday each week and cannot be changed unless there is a trade or injury.

seems pretty clear to me.

oh, so now you're a strict constructionist? how convenient.

listen, the rule is about as clear as it can get. the ben sheets situation is completely different for reasons we've talked about a thousand times. if every time i bring something up, everybody's going to throw ben [expletive] sheets in my face, then i guess everyone is allowed to break the rules when they play me because i'm a cheater that has ben sheets on the DL so who am i to ask others to abide by the rules.

i don't really care. i'm going to lose this week anyway. but if that's not the rule, then take down the freaking rule post because it apparently doesn't apply. tim agreed with me. there's no reason to have a monday roster deadline if it flat out doesn't apply to pitchers or position players. if that's not the rule, then change it.

I do agree with Adam in this case. We should either change the statement of the rule to reflect the true intent, or abide by the rule as it is stated.

I know that it is impossible to write rules for everything, so there's always going to be gray area. However, when a rule is explicitly stated, we should abide by it, yes?

I am going to need baseball's equivalent of a perfect storm to beat raw. Otherwise it is another week of scoring over 300 and losing.

Sigh ...If I could just get a few bats off my DL

That happened to me this week too. I think it's the first time I've ever scored over 300 points and lost (partly because it's not that often that I score over 300 in the first place).

I noticed that you had over 300 too.

It sucks to lose, but at least the Quakers made a game of it. If Slowey had a quality start on Sunday, I would have won.

There have been years when I seem to have good match ups and win even thoogh m offense wasn't particularly good. But this year.....

I won even though my opponent used 8 starts.

It's actually pretty easy to look and see whether you are going over in starts. Click on "stats", click on your team, click on this period for "Timeframe" and click on standard under "Stats".

There's nothing like scoring 337 points and losing by 2.5.

Justin sent me a text last night saying he needed a dong by Howard. About 10 mins later, he got one.

Some sentences, when taken out of context, can really make a person go

My shitty team is somehow 1 game out of the playoffs. Sucks because I have no chance to win the championship and no worthwhile prospects to trade to give me a chance.

My [expletive] team is somehow 1 game out of the playoffs.

You have my team's slump the last couple of weeks to thank for that.

To be fair, your team had a good week. My team has just been a buzz saw for the past five weeks. I haven't scored less than 330 since week 4.
