Fox, pinch hitting for Lilly, singled to center field

or just *a* hit with runners on base? or a productive out like a sac fly or (earlier in the game) a ground ball past the pitcher? instead all the plays in run scoring situations have been K's or piss-poor ground outs while non run-scoring situations have been pretty good.

When you have so many poor hitters, and such a limited amount of decent hitters, it should be no surprise if a decent hitter gets on and the others don't drive him in.

lee and hoffpauir both saved bad ABs for when fukudome was on third; fontenot has had two run-scoring situations and made outs both times but singled in his other AB.

Like I said though, these are just decent hitters, not great ones coming up short. Decent hitters don't get a ton of hits. When one does, it doesn't mean the others will. All of those guys have huge question marks.

There is no "heart" of this lineup. (and I don't mean that from an effort standpoint)
