Carlos Zambrano has been suspended for six games, reports Jon Heyman of SI.com.

He figures to miss one start. Zambrano was ejected from Wednesday's game with the Pirates. He bumped into umpire Mark Carlson during the lengthy tirade.

If Z took the suspension starting tonight the Cubs rotation wouldn't really be affected because of the off day on Monday. But I bet he'll appeal that length of a suspension.

6 games does not equate to missing a start, it pushes it back 2 days, which could be for the best. If he appeals and waits for MLB to provide a response, he could actually miss a start, as they could always fudge the date they give the final decision. If they wait until the day before a schedule start, they can still reduce it to 4-5 games and essentially force him to miss a turn in the rotation.

Unlike Bradley's which was a very short outburst that probably wouldn't have drawn a suspension for most players, what Z did was much more deserving of a suspension, and I have to think he's going to be a little more likely to accept it. If he does, he can appeal up until his next start, then drop it the next day.
