I think removing Marshall from the rotation is stupid, but if it means getting rid of Cotts, so be it. I mean, just b/c Marshall goes to the 'pen doesn't mean he'll have to stay there. I'll take the chance Hendry gets a Loogy & Marshall starts again soon

True. Plus, if Marshall has to stay there because Randy freaking Wells continues to pitch very good, that would be fine with me.

As long as Cotts is demoted to Peoria, I'll be OK with it.

I don't like Marshall in the bullpen. He's a starter for crying out loud. Call up Pignatello, cut Cotts. Move Wells to the bullpen and get rid of Patton.

If only Piggy were still a Cub....

So assuming all is well with Harden and he is back end of next week or so who gets bumped out of the rotation? If we go strictly on a production basis there is no way either Marshall or Wells should be removed. Do we go with alternating Marshall/Wells as the 5th starter/long man depending on matchups?

Lou made it sound like Marshall would go to the pen.

At least Cotts will be gone?

Yeah, that is definitely the silver lining. If Wells can keep pitching like he has (I have my doubts) then it's not really that bad of a move. All in all though, I'd rather just drop Cotts and send Wells to the pen - but we MUST have a lefty for crying out loud!

I don't think we have to. We just need a guy who can get lefty's out.

I agree - that statement was from Lou's aspect. It's that old-school mentality where there must be at least one lefty in your rotation and bullpen. If it is beneficial, then fine. But obsessing about it to the point it hurts the ballclub (i.e. Cotts), then its a problem.

You know if we actually win this thing, naked Stoney becomes a staple in game threads.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves here

Perhaps not on that particular hit, but Theriot never seems to come close to balls hit up the middle. He either plays much closer to third than most or his range to his left is pretty awful.
