If Derosa keeps hitting like this, he's not gonna be cheap to reacquire.

That's what concerns me. I doubt we'd go after him again, but if we do, now would be the time - before his value shoots through the roof.

If he does keep hitting, and thr Indians do decide to trade him, I wouldnt be surprised if he carries a similar price tag to Holliday due to his versatility. More teams seem to be in need of an infielder than an outfielder, and DeRo can do both. If you are going to go for a rent a player, it may as well be one you can plug into your everyday lineup without moving too many guys around.

If they ask for a Holliday-esque return, I don't want the Cubs anywhere near the trade and I doubt too many teams will be interested. As good and versatile as DeRo is, he's still 34 years old and not nearly the hitter Holliday is. Holliday returned three of the top 15 prospects in Oakland's organization and will likely be similar to that if the As trade him this year.

That's way higher than DeRo's value.

Well Derosa is almost a lock for type A status at the end of the season so the Indians are going to get some pretty decent value him. He really might end up being more expensive than I had initially considered.

I read a rumor that some team (I don't remember) was turned off by Cleveland's asking price for DeRosa.

I say just get Belliard. Now before everyone starts LOLing, im not saying hes a savior, or even a regular starter, just a potential upgrade. Granted, his stats are but ugly this year, but he hasnt even had 100 ABs. Hes a guy who will average out with a .720-.750 OPS and about 10 home runs. When Ramirez comes back, he should be a much better option than Miles, Blanco, Scales, or Freel off the bench. We could probably get hism for something like Kevin Hart or even a PTBNL.

Now that the Kansas City Royals are back to being the Kansas City Royals, I wonder if we can go back to the talks for Mark Teahen which have seemingly been sporadic since 2007. Hes basically a poor mans Mark DeRosa. He can be plugged in anywhere on the infield but short as well as some outfield. His OPS hovers around .800, and his 23 RBI, while far from impressive are only 5 off from our RBI leader.

Teahen actually seems like exactly the kind of player we should target. He's inexpensive in both prospects and dollars, and he really is a poor man's DeRo. He's even logged innings at second this year, which surprises me. Count me in as a supporter of this move, but I haven't heard Teahen's name as being out there.

It seems Teahen has in one way or another been mentioned at one point or another in 07, 08, and this past offseason. Nobody wanted him, but now that hes the type of guy we need, Im all for him.

The reason that he hasnt been out there this season is because Alex Gordon has been injured, so hes been a regular starter, plus earlier in the season, the Royals were very much in the race, but nw they're back to being themselves. We could probably get him for a deal centering around Randy Wells or Kevin Hart and throw in a few prospects. Maybe we can get them to take Aaron Miles off our hands in the process.

Is anyone else worried that Aram is going to come back to Herculean expectations? This could cause him to swing too hard, possibly opening him up for either another injury or just a plain out suckfest like in the 2 months after DLee got hurt in 2006 (I know he ended up with good numbers, but think he was brutal until we were all but eliminated)?

This is a helluva serious injury and it's almost impossible for him to live up to the expectations being piled on him due to the awfulness of everyone else without him in the lineup.

If we're like 10 games out after the July 4th weekend vs. Milwaukee, they should put him on the slowest recovery process ever and even think about telling him to have surgery so he's 100% for next year. Now I'm going to go hang myself for even realizing that once again, this is probably not "the year".

I'm worried that he won't be nearly as good as he usually is, but I'm not too worried about the expectations. I was worried about expectations on Bradley and how fans turning on him for a slow start could cause a problem. But the fans didn't jump on him early and he still failed miserably over the first three months. Ramirez is established. Those that dislike him for "hustle" and "unreliability" reasons are still not going to like him. He has produced despite a fairly significant portion of the media/fan base knocking his effort, I don't have much concern that he'll get rabbit ears, try to do too much or wilt under pressure. His swing is pretty violent. He could reinjure it. But I don't think it will be related to expectations.
