Vitters was pinch-hit for in the 6th inning. Hope he's OK.

But, he's in the lineup for game 2, so he must be OK.

Maybe it was just a little celebration for having taken his 3rd walk.

Most of the regulars are now up around 100 AB's, plus or minus. Vitters has 3 walks, Harrison 4, and Lake 5.

Beat me to it, Vitters back in the lineup.

Also, Cliff Andersen is in Peoria's lineup...he must have been taken off the DL this morning. I have no corresponding move as of yet.

Arquimedes Nieto has a perfect game through 5 against Peoria.

Josh Vitters (throwing) and Junior Lake (fielding) have committed errors.

Peoria is losing 3-0 in the middle of the 6th.

Cal, question for you regarding your scouting info. I read a gaub interview from April 1. He said last season early he was 88-90, by late season he was 91-92, and supposedly was clocked at 94 once or twice late last season. he said he hoped to get back up to his pre-surg 95 again, but as of April 1 that didn't seem to be reality.

Recently you made a post regarding Gaub in which you alluded to 95 mph fastball, IIRC. Have you gotten some info that he's been throwing that hard this year? Or is that from wilken or something? Or is that basically the same touched-94-late-last-year info that I read?

I'd love to hear that he really is popping 94-95, and more than once a month, and that he's comfortably working in the 91-94 range now.

Sorry, Craig. I was basing the velocity readings (optimistically) on those stories from ITI and that Indians Scout web site from late last season.

That's one way to make the pitcher pay for that hbp.

Raisin, this look right to you?

Peoria's rotation for the next 5 days:

Wed-Carpenter

Thurs-Archer

Fri-Shafer

Sat-TBD (Hatley would only be on 3 days rest)

Sun-Hatley

Mon-Bristow

I know I won't see Carpenter or Archer on Sat/Sun, part of me is hoping for a rainout pushing Shafer's start instead of a spot start.

from the CST twitter: Big Z (hammy) doing better, scheduled for Class A rehab start Sat or Sun.

So maybe that will be the guy filling in Peoria. I may finally make it to a game this year.

Yeah, that's what I have. Cabrera could spot start. He's been piggy backing with Archer of late.

Z news is interesting, though a rehab on the road would be surprising.

Shafer is a fascinating dude. They had him on the local ESPN radio show yesterday evening. Seems likeable enough, and went on and on about how he likes to throw inside on guys, as well about his older brothers (2 or 3 were in the minors at one point or another), etc. Pretty entertaining guy.

It makes sense. Iowa will be in Salt Lake City, Tennessee will be in Chattanooga, and Daytona will be in Clearwater and Dunedin. Beloit's the closest option this weekend.
