As one of the great television icons of my generation, Homer Simpson, once remarked, "Awww, CRAP." I really didn't want to be starting game threads so soon. However, the fact that I just subconsciously made that plural reminds me that I'm always awesome in game threads, and specifically game threads against the Brew Crew... "The Crew," if you will, and I won't, because that's a total d-bag phrase like "I'm not sayin', I'm just sayin'," or "Ryan Braun."

 

Cubs win this one, I start another thread tomorrow night with a link to a music video whose title somehow relates to the world of sports, then they win at least two more while I continue to struggle to think of things to say.

 

I don't know if there are any moms on this board, but Happy Mother's Day!

Derrek Lee, who has a bulging disk in his neck, will not play in Sunday's game.

 

Lee is being held out of the weekend's games until he has a MRI Monday. He will have missed five games at this point and a DL stint can't be ruled out.

Then DL his ass and call up someone. This crap is getting out of hand with this organizations reluctance to DL someone. I understand not wanting to DL Aram earlier as there is noone else on the team or in the minors that could match Arams numbers. With Lee however the same cant be said. We have a suitable replacement on the team already, and have a few people in the minors who could probably at least duplicate what Lee has given us so far this season. This team is dumb as hell.

Its not hard to find guys in the minors that are RH and can hit LH pitching, but struggle vs Rh's. Also thats all we need is a bench player as Hoff will take all the starts vs rightys anyway. Had we had that "bench player" last night, there is a very good chance the game turns out differently.

I think I read he would be evaluated today and see how he feels. So since this is the Cubs hes probably out the next 4-5 days.

No I said it exactly how I wanted to say it. Had we had a RH hitter on the bench to face Stetter there is a very good chance the game turns out differently. Stetters numbers against rightys are alot worse than his numbers vs LH hitters. If the Cubs tie that game up, or take the lead the game would have turned out very differently. We wouldnt have seen Fox, or Patton in that game, or had to throw Heilman to the wolves. Lou was hoping Demp could get 1 more inning since we were still down, but had it been tied or we had the lead, Marmol would have been used.

 

Yes there is a lack of trust in the 5-7 guys in the pen, but thats why you dont play your bench a man short so you can tie it or take the lead and skip having to use Fox, Patton, or Heilman.
