Sorry guys.

Iowa - Caridad (3 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 1 K, 1 GO-5 FO so far)

Tennessee - both games rained out

Daytona - Searle (CCP posted his final line)

Peoria - Carpenter (6 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 8 K, 4 GO-6 FO so far)

Tyler Colvin left the Daytona's game in the 3rd inning as a DH. He grounded out in the 1st and was PH for in the 3rd. Not sure if it was an injury.

Starlin Castro with his first HR of the season. Apparently, he can occasionally hit FSL pitching.

yeah nice to see something other than a single from him. unfortunately he made two errors so it wasn't all good news.

Searle especially is becoming an exciting prospect, doing this at 19 in Daytona. His last 3 starts: 16 IP, 0 ER, 5 H(all singles), 9/2 K/BB, 27-11 GO-FO

Agreed. The only thing I'm worried about is the reports that he had sort of fringy stuff, but I can't remember if that was mostly speculation or scouting reports on him. They might have underestimated his sinker when looking at him though.

I figured Colvin would go down with another injury (which I assume that tis is). He hasn't been the same player since he mysteriously left for a couple days a week or so ago. He was really struggling when he came back and my guess is that he has the same problem as he did before, although we still don't know what that was.

very nice outings for searle and carpenter.

Yep I am officially excited about both of them. They both have long ER free streaks going.

I liked Carpenter a lot when I saw him. The only two concerns I have about him are his health and his control. He's been walking a lot of guys.

I'd add one more concern to that list, his age for his level.

Now Searle on the other hand...

Even if the scouts were right and he does have fringy stuff. He's 19. His stuff can still can improve. But for now, he's succeeding at getting A+ hitters out, especially via the ground out and when they do hit him its weakly. Count me as currently pleased and excited.

After a rough start to the season, Caridads been looking good the last few starts. Where did he come from anyway?

Japan.

Obviously hes originally from the DR. Anywhere where I could find his stats from Japan?

It's a bit of a concern, but frankly, his stuff is good enough that he'll likely end up in the FSL at some point this season, if not in AA next season. I think the reason the Cubs have him down in Peoria is to hammer out his control problems, since the hitters down there are less likely to make him pay, meaning he'll have longer outings and can get more innings in under his belt.

He only got a cup of coffee with the Hiroshima Carp: http://www.thebaseballcube.com/players/C/Esmailin--Caridad.shtml

He spent most of 2007 at Hiroshima's Dominican Academy where he posted a line of 1-2, 4.02 ERA, 17 BB, 30 K in 31.1 IP.

Fixed.

Seriosuly though, None of those numbers seem particularly impressive, but our scouts must have seen something in him.
