- Taylor is making his second career appearance and start in the majors. He lost his first outing giving up 4 runs in 3.2 innings and walking 6.

- Cubs won season series 4-3 last season with all games played in second half.

- Marlins have won three straight after a 7-game losing streak.

- Cubs have lost 7 of 9 including the last two.

- Milton Bradley looks to extend his hitting streak to a season high two games.

I'm going to watch this one because I think Harden pitches a pretty good game (7 innings, 5 hits, 1 run) and the Cubs get enough offense for a 6-1 win to remain undefeated in May of 2009.

With our luck, Harden could pitch 7 innings giving up 5 hits and 1 earned run just as you say........ and also 6 unearned runs and lose 7-6.

CUBS are on a pace for: Compared to:
                                  2008 2007 2006 2005
.108 errors 97 94 104 100

With the way our bullpen has been doing the last couple games I can see this being a game that if Harden is doing really well Lou will keep him in for as long as possible. Until he's at 120 pitches I don't see Lou pulling him unless he's not doing well.

I'm not sure I agree with that. If the Cubs offense is laying another egg, what would be the point of stressing Harden's shoulder to the tune of 120 pitches? You aren't going to win without scoring runs anyway.

With Harden you lose 2-1. Pull him early, and you lose 7-1.

The big difference I see there is that you just stressed the arm of your best starter for no reason.

i look forward to BB explaining away the offensive struggles with the old "It's a big advantage for the pitcher if they've never faced each other" routine.

really though...win please.

Hanley Ramirez-SS-Marlins May. 1 - 10:31 am et

Hanley Ramirez (wrist) tried to hit in the batting cage before Thursday's game but cut the session after just five minutes.

When asked how it went, Ramirez said, "Not good." His right hand, which was nailed with a John Maine pitch Monday night, remains swollen. He might not return until early next week.

At least theres that. I know you shouldnt rely on other teams players getting injured, but sometimes you have to take all the help you can get.

I'm assuming we would be up like 2-1, 3-1 and Lou doesn't want to turn it over to the bullpen because he knows they'll blow it so he keeps Harden in longer than he should.

Hanley Ramirez-SS-Marlins May. 1 - 11:58 am et

Hanley Ramirez (wrist) felt strong Friday morning and could be available to pinch hit as the Rays take on the Red Sox Friday night.

Ramirez has missed three games since leaving Monday night with a bruised hand and wrist. He could return to the starting lineup this weekend.

Now they say he may be able to pinh hit but the question is, will it be for the Rays or the Red Sox?

This morning, Koyie Hill was out with coach Alan Trammell taking grounders at third base. He had to switch from catcher to third base last night. It was his first career big-league appearance at third. Koyie said it was the first time in nine years overall that he's played there. He made the conversion from third base to catcher in 2000 at Yakima.

Lou didn't seem sure when Aramis Ramirez would be ready to start again at third. Things sounded more optimistic yesterday.

The you really need to DL the guy. How much times left at this point, like 5 days? We really need that extra body on the bench.
