Guzman is so filthy when he's throwing strikes; I don't know why he doesn't trust his stuff.

I think it's part he has been hurt for most or part of the last few years so he hasn't been consistently pitching and he doesn't repeat his windup/mechanics which causes him to be erratic at times, there is no doubting his stuff however.

Fred, your last box score doesn't include Zambrano's homerun. Just thought I'd let you know. :)

Did anyone else notice that Chad Gaudin pitched 5 scoreless innings tonight for the Padres in Colorado? Only gave up 3 hits (but 4 walks) in those 5 innings....

Lou definitely wouldn't have been too pleased and probably would have pulled Gaudin after his second walk of the second inning (third overall).

As a competitive athelete, it takes a while to overcome the psychology of trusting your "stuff"

 

I think Guzman will be fine with a few more opportunities where he pitches well.
