Zack, done for the night.

7.0 IP

6 H

1 R

1 ER

2 BB

6 K's

It's a good day for him. That 96 mph fastball right in the middle of the plate for a called strike 3 to end the 7th was just pure ownage.

what Halladay's doing is almost as impressive: 7.0 K/BB and 2.34 GB/FB, both 2nd in the league

Lincecum's also not far behind Greinke in FIP, 1.75 compared to 1.52

Verlander's striking out 12.08 hitters/ 9 innings, over a full batter better than Harden's ridiculous 11.01 k/9 last year.

there have been some terrific pitching performances thus far, to be sure

Even better:

Lincecum: 24 years old

Greinke: 25 years old

Verlander: 26 years old

Greinke took his second loss last night, giving up 7 runs (5 earned) in 5 IP. He's 8-2, 1.55

Yeah, it was one of those days where a pitcher gets hit hard. Even the outs were hard hits. I have no doubt he'll bounce back.

He did, but Soria blew it. I wonder what's going on with Soria. Not the same guy as the last two years and they claim there is nothing wrong with him.

That seems to happen with closers an awful lot, more so than with other players. they have 1 or 2 great years, and then fall apart. Maybe due to injury, maybe the league just figures them out. Chad Cordero, Dan Kolb, and Derrick Turnbow are a few recent cases that come to mind. Huston Street was on that rout, but he seems to be pulling it together OK with the Rox.

Even in Pedro's ridiculous stretch, even he had his days where he had poor starts:

In 1997 he had two games where he gave up 5 ER.

In a game during 1999 he posted this line: 3 2/3 IP, 12 H, 9 R, 7 ER.

In 2000 he had a game where he gave up 6 ER.

Like you said, every pitcher is going to have a day where he gets knocked around.

I'm pretty sure I'll be there next week for Greinke v. Scherzer. I'm very excited.

What day does that one fall on? I have tickets to pretty much every game next week.

I think I'm going to take off work and go. That will be awesome.

Dangit thats the one night I don't have tickets to and have commited to doing something with one of my married friends. Might have to bail.

It's the Summer of '69 night where all the outfield 1st deck seats are $6. Of course they're all gone unless you want singles. Some people are selling them for cheap on StubHub and eBay though. I got some pretty good ones for $13 each on StubHub. Section 215.

Just realized the Cardinals miss Greinke again. ](*,)

Unfortunately. I was hoping that Sunday would be the day (where I'm taking my father, father-in-law, and my grandpa) that he would be pitching. Although, Meche is pitching that day, I would still perfer Greinke. But then, Meche is a better option than Davies and Bannister.

I just hope that 130+ pitches won't come back and bite Meche, come Sunday.
