Boston woulda beat them.

And your reasoning behind that is?

No one would have beat the Lakers in the Finals with the way they were playing. Not Garnett's Boston team. Not Lebron. Not anyone.

lame way to end a really cool playoffs

oh well, now we can stop talking about Kobe can't win without Shaq, that was getting to annoying levels that rivaled "Peyton can't win in the playoffs" levels

Uh Peyton still sucks in the playoffs. He just had one year where the defense went from crap to great.

Well that's just unadulterated, ESPN-esque nonsense.

Boston with a healthy Garnett could have beaten the Lakers. Even without Garnett, Boston might have a chance, but the Lakers would have been heavy favorites.

Simply put, two tossup games go the other way, and this series is 3-2 Orlando heading back to LA. I imagine as time passes, this playoffs will be looked on as a "dominant" Laker run through the playoffs.

Yeah this series was much closer than I thought it was going to be. To imply that the Lakers rolled through this series is just not right. Courtney Lee makes a layup and Howard makes one freethrow the Lakers are in huge trouble.

Yeah because during the season with a healthy Garnett they took it to the Lakers.

I'm not saying that Boston would have beaten the Lakers, I'm just saying that there's a chance they would have.

With Garnett it's probably 50/50.

Without Garnett, it's probably 80/20 in the Lakers' favor.

Here are the two LA-Boston games this year:

Boston led by 2 with four minutes to go in LA before losing 92-83.

The second game was an OT game that the Lakers won by 1 point in Boston.

The Lakers didn't exactly dominate Boston this year either. Not that I think regular season performance against a team is the best measure for the playoffs anyway. I mean, Orlando won both games against LA during the regular season this year and that didn't work out for them in the Finals.

It might be, but I'm not so sure. They were pushed to the brink by Houston and the Denver series wasn't exactly a blowout either. LA was much more dominant going through the West last year.

That's because Jameer Nelson wasn't 100 percent.

But you said a few posts ago that "No one would have beat the Lakers in the Finals with the way they were playing. Not Garnett's Boston team. Not Lebron. Not anyone."

So it sounds like a healthy Jameer Nelson wouldn't have mattered either which makes my point for me. Orlando won twice in the regular season but the Lakers beat them in the final.

On 2nd thought..

I'll take that back about Nelson. They still wouldn't have beat LA in a seven game series and neither would have anyone. People seem to forget that Bryant missed 5 free-throws in Game 3 that would have made it a sweep pretty much, and Orlando shoot 62 percent from the field for the game.

And this argument is about as asinine as asking: would the spurs with a healthy ginobili or the lakers with a healthy bynum beat the Celtics last year? We all pretty much know that answer, and it's no.
