"LUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU"

I wish I had a reason to cry about this loss... but really I was expecting goonery in the last 10 minutes, that never happened.

Hawks had this game under wraps if it wasn't for our terrible awful defense of Barker/Walker.

Oh well... Hawks showed they can rape Luongo... DO IT IN GAME 2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Was it Barkers fault or should have a forward cycled back when a d man pinched in? Still have only seen one replay of that and it wasnt clear.

edit: Walker also went to deep in protecting against the pass. You have to assume that the goalie is going to take the shot and any pass that he can reach, Walker went almost to the goal line. If he holds in front he may pick up that rebound.

Just a defensive lapse at a bad time.

The Final score being 5-3 (empty net) is a lot more than I could have hoped for. I can't believe the Hawks didn't score 1-2 in the first 40:00.... whatever... bounces are bounces... I still think they can take this series in 6.

The captain in the last five games:

0 goals, 3 assists, -2, and losing a lot of ice time.

Just sayin'...

Luckily Kane realized these games count.

Seriously, Quinneville. If you are lucky enough to win this series, you will do it because Kane, Toews, Havlat, Versteeg have big games. I know it might mess up your precious defensive matchups, but it's the only chance you have.

I'm not worried about this game, because even tho they lost the Hawks told the Nucks that they can score and score quickly and on Luongo. I expect this series to go 7.

I think it's over in four or five. You aren't going to get three quick goals against Luongo very often, doing it once doesn't mean they can do it again.

Calgary was too busy trying to be tough to expose our non-top-2 defensemen, but Vancouver is not.

If anything, this reminds me of Game 1 of the last series, in reverse. Vancouver took our best road shot and won.

I may no longer be able to use Yahoo.com for my box scores, because it seems to think Kane was a -3 tonight with two goals, and I don't think that's possible with a PP goal and an EN in a 5-3 game.

Maybe not, but there is enough offensive talent on the Hawks that Luongo can't always be sharp. I still expect the Hawks to win the series.

I went into the first two games being satisfied with 1 of 2. I still stand by that.

This.

Also the 3 goal comeback in the 3rd gave me some added confidence!

Why isn't it possible (and ESPN's box score has him at -3 as well)? All that means is that he was on the ice for all five Vancouver goals. I know it's not too likely, but it's still possible.

I just got done watching my recording of the game. The Hawks will be fine. Sure its tough to lose Game 1, and yes this was a good shot to steal 1 on the road. But the Hawks showed that they could bounce back after being outplayed in the first 2 periods. I feel pretty confident with the 2 Chicago games. If we drop one of those, then I start to worry. It isn't a series until the home team loses a game.

Agreed Luongo---as great as he is---can be scored upon and with the talent the Hawks offensively, he is---or should be---having to stand on his head stopping shots every night. I expect the Hawks to get game 2.

Same here. I was pissed last night because they got my hopes up, but after thinking on it, the comeback was obviously a good thing. It gave the offensive guys confidence and planted in the 'Nucks heads that the Hawks took their best shot and jumped right back on their feet.

I want to see the Hawks come out flying tomorrow night.

Possible for sure... Never really liked the +/- stat =\

Unless they've changed the way the stat is calculated, you are not debited for goals while penalty-killing or empty-netters.

Empty-netters count. Kane's PP goal does not count. Vancouver had 4 even strenght goals, Hawks had 2, of which Kane was on the ice for only 1. Kane was definitely on the ice for the last 2 even strength goals.

D'oh, I got it. Just wasn't wrapping my head around it, for some reason. ENers counting is kind of silly, imo.

If the Blackhawks don't win Saturday, they have to win 4 of 5 against a team that has made them look bad for 165 of the last 180 minutes they played.

Every team that loses game 1 on the road says "Yeah, well, we just wanted to win one of the first two," but the reality is that leaves you with half as many chances to do that, and most of the time you will fail and lose the series.

I had negative confidence in this team last night. But that 3 goal comeback in the 3rd probably messed with the minds of Luongo and the Nucks as well as gave me tons of confidence for tomorrow's game.
