I'm still confused about the prospect draft. Once the draft is concluded, are minor league players fair game as far as free agents?

For example, let's say 3 of my minor leaguers make their big league squads out of ST, and I go ahead and promote them to my big league roster. Will I be stuck with just 7 minor leaguers until the next draft, or can I pick up guys to replace those guys that got promoted?

How many rounds will the prospect draft be?

My question is, what do I do if he's not in the database?

I added him for you.

Thanks,

Can you add Aaron Hicks for Matt?

What team/position?

My understanding is that you cannot add any prospects until the next draft unless those prospects are called up to the majors. So you'd be limited to 7 minor leaguers until the next prospect draft. However, you'd then be able to draft 3 prospects without having to release any of your current prospects since you'd already be under the limit.

I believe it was mentioned earlier that the prospect draft would be 3 rounds, but I'm not 100% sure on that.

My understanding is that if you are below 10 players in your Minor League Roster you can continue to draft, or drop a player on your roster to draft someone. Once the draft is complete these players will then become available via FA. Players going into the 2009 MLB Draft will have to wait until the next Minor League Draft.

I could be wrong too.

the current plan is for them not to be FAs. Still up for debate though. What I don't like is people adding players new to the database.

Was that ever possible? In that case I agree with never being FA.

What about someone like Jake McGee that Raisin had on his roster all last year but let go now. Seems like he'd be eligible to be picked up as a FA if nobody drafts him.

Just remember to keep things simple.

I can agree on the newly added players. But, I think we still need an option to pick up minor leaguers as players get plucked off of our minor league rosters.

Just like free agents are fair game after the draft, minor leaguers (who aren't new to the database) should be fair game, also.

Looks like Raw picked up two prospects on Roadkill without posting here. So we're now into the second round snaking backwards.

Okay, I picked up Chris Valaika SS, Reds.

And with that pick, you can pass me on the next round since I won't be around to pick in the 3rd round.

I'll be back on Monday.

ok, so lets just say you can pick up through waivers any player who was eligible for this draft. Essentially this eliminates those drafted in June but nobody else. This draft will go until everyone quits picking.
