Weimer, a second team Daktronics All-America selection in 2007, led the Mavericks with 23 home runs, 77 RBIs, 79 runs scored, and 92 hits, all school records. He also led UNO with a .405 batting average and an .837 slugging percentage. A two-time all-NCC and first team all-Central Region honoree, Weimer finished his career as the school's all-time leader in career home runs (41) and slugging percentage (.785), while finishing second in batting average (.391).

Does he project as much? The stats look pretty good.
Possibly. Weimer went undrafted but it was due to a car accident he had in the days leading up to the draft.
The crash broke his nose, fractured an eye socket and caused internal injuries. He had to be airlifted and ended up losing his spleen.
Teams were scared off, but it's possible the Cubs had him tryout and noticed that he regained what he had during last year's season.
Herold just wishes that Weimer could have been among those drafted. He said Weimer's got good size at 6-foot-3 and 215, a good temperament for the game and the ability to come up big when it counts. He hit five of his home runs in Division II regionals.

Interesting article that says he seems to have quite a few tools (defense, speed, power, and ability to hit for average).

His teammate, Bryan Frew, another outfielder was drafted in the 43rd round last year by the Phillies. He was signed and played on their short season team with unimpressive statistics. In college, he showed much less power, a lower average, but he did have 35 stolen bases. His defense was terrible (9 errors in the outfield).

A left-handed pitcher Timothy Huber was drafted in the 27th round by the Royals, and only going on statistics seems to be pretty impressive. 95 K's in 78.1 IP - 3.22 ERA, but a fairly high WHIP (72 H's & 31 BB's).

I would guess based on others from his team and the conference they play in, Weimer would have probably been drafted in rounds 20-30. His stock was definitely on the rise, however, as he had changed his batting stance significantly which allowed him to hit for power, so someone could've taken a chance on him a bit earlier than the 20th round. (Just my speculation.)
