The Pads really struck gold when they drafted him, huh?

El Cajon police are looking for Matt Bush to investigate allegations he took part in a drunken assault Wednesday involving boys lacrosse players on the Granite Hills High campus.

The Padres said nothing about it, but it does explain why Bush was dropped from the 40-man roster less than three months after the team added him. It's the third time since he was drafted that Bush has faced accusations stemming from an altercation.

I say give him a shot. He could be our Josh Hamilton. You never know.

As a pitcher or a hitter?

Hamilton was always good.....he just had issues. Matt Bush flat out sucks and was drafted way too high to begin with.

Never heard of him...but I kinda like him

He was the first overall pick in the 2004 draft. He was a shortstop, and he lost all ability to make contact once he got to the minors. Rather than give up on him completely, the Pads tried to convert him into a pitcher, but he needed TJS and missed all of last season. And this isn't the first time he's gotten into trouble with the law.

How do you miss that badly on a first overall pick?

He was a signability pick for the Pods. I forgot who went the two spots after him, but both were Boras clients asking for huge money to sign.

Yeesh, what a mess that draft turned out to be. A few of those guys should be fine, but man, a number of them have just plummeted down the toilet.

That Robnett guy is going to be great.

Truth be told, I really thought Mark Rogers was going to be badass. But if you remember the two best prospects weren't even Verlander and Humber, I believe they were Stephen Drew and Jered Weaver. They were calling Weaver the best college pitcher since Prior.

Keep going and Dustin Pedroia pops in. That helps out a bit.
