i'd rather them do away with the LDS and go back to just having an LCS and WS....make the LCS 7 games and the WS 9 games.

9 games is way to long. Unless you are a hardcore baseball fan or you are in the cities of Philly,TB or Boston, No one cares baseball right now.

I would be willing to bet he will put more thought into it especially with the rating killing series of Philadelphia/Tampa on the horizon. This is the worst possible ratings scenario baseball could have gotten going into the playoffs (well, maybe Brewers/Rays would have been worse). Going in you could have had:

 

Chicago vs Chicago

LA vs. LA

Cubs vs. anybody

Red Sox vs. Dodgers

White Sox vs Dodgers

It would mean potentially 1 more game for 8 teams while eliminating those 2 games from the regular season to fit the schedule (i know, just fewer off days) would mean 1 fewer games for 30 teams, some of which need that gate.

In my opinion, it's better that the Division Series is best three out of five. If it went best four out of seven, I think a lot of people would consider it overkill and a lot of people already believe that about the NBA play-offs. Also, when the current play-off format was created, the Division Series was never originally intended to be as long a series as the LCS and the World Series.

In basketball, it's much easier to determine who the best team is through a short series of games. A far larger number of NBA first round series would go 3-0 than if MLB went to Best of 7 for the DS.
